Alan Gene Matthews

Alan Gene Matthews, devoted husband, father, grandfather, car enthusiast, and sweet tea connoisseur died peacefully at home on September 13, 2025. After a courageous battle with cancer, he finally found comfort in his final hours, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 69 years old. Al enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to spend time on the water, or watching sports. He was funny, kind, generous, and truly had a heart of gold. Al is survived by his wife, Susan Matthews, his children, Austin Matthews, Taylor Foley, and Adam Mathews. His siblings, Mike Matthews, Carol Matthews, and Tom Matthews and his eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marsha Shelley Matthews and Kenneth Ray Matthews. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
