Amelia Rose Kendrick, a cherished sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, entered into eternal rest on October 27, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and compassion. Born to Elmira and Richard Kendrick on August 23, 1933, in Americus, GA, Amelia was the youngest of three, joining her siblings Alfred and Mattie in a home filled with love and faith. A devoted member of Campbell Chapel A.M.E. Church, Amelia grew up singing in the choir, where her voice was a source of inspiration. She excelled academically, becoming Salutatorian of her graduating class at A.S. Staley High School, and continued her studies at Clark College, now Clark Atlanta University. She pursued a career in nursing at the Grady School of Nursing, later dedicating her skills to Crawford Long Hospital and Southside Comprehensive Health Center. She retired from Spelman College after serving as Head of The Nursing Department for 19 years. Amelia's nurturing spirit extended beyond her profession; she became a foster parent for a decade and a foster grandparent for 13 years with Chattahoochee Head Start, touching countless young lives with her kindness and guidance. In retirement, she built and managed her own business, ASK Bonding Co., demonstrating her strength and independence. Amelia is survived by her loving children, Amelia Victoria, Victor Bernard, and Harry (Helene) Kendrick, who will carry forward her warmth and grace. Her nieces, Jeanie (Dana) Crowell, Betty (Agustine) May, Gloria Driskell (whom she joined in death), and nephew Larry Driskell and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the lessons she imparted, and the love she shared with family, friends, and community. She will be profoundly missed yet celebrated in memory, forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew her. In honoring her remarkable life, may we remember Amelia's unwavering dedication, her nurturing heart, and her spirit that will forever inspire us all.
