Angela Michelle Rucker

August 5, 1964 ~ March 12, 2023

Angela Rucker was born the first child of the late Blanche and Ivory Rucker. Jr. She was born in St; Louis, MO on August 5th, 1964. She eventually became the big sister of two more siblings, Ivory Rucker III and Ava Rucker. She loved being a big sister and felt she was in charge of her siblings. She graduated from Hazelwood East High School in Florissant, Mo. She loved education and attended multiple universities. Angela earned a bachelor's degree, as well as two masters’ degrees. She also held certifications in Taxation and Human Resources. While she attended multiple universities; she earned her bachelor's degree at Central Missouri State University. While there she became a lifelong member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, Zeta Lambda chapter in the spring of 1984. Angela, being a people person, maintained those friendships throughout her life. Angela moved to the Atlanta area the weekend she graduated from college. Several family and friends stayed with Angela when they relocated to the Atlanta, GA area to start their new lives and careers. Our family used to joke that Angela helped to increase the population in Atlanta. She attended St. Peters A.M.E. church and continued the tradition in Atlanta by joining St. Philips A.M.E church.Angela held many jobs in her career journey. At one time she was a regional director for Artistic Impressions. If you knew her at that time, you held an art show for her or purchased a painting. She loved the life that she lived while being an art consultant. This is how she first began traveling the world and loved international travel. She won all the sales contests and annual travel packages. She was the life of the party and never met a stranger. In 1996, Angela's life changed when she was blessed with her beautiful daughter, Alana born on August 5 just like her mom. They were two peas in a pod. Angela made the transition two years ago from planning Alana’s birthday parties to just showing up at the adult parties that Alana would plan for them.Angela always put Alana first. Angela changed careers from being an art consultant to become a teacher so that she could have the same schedule as Alana and ensure that she would always be available when and where she was needed. Angela was a faithful cheer mom to Alana throughout her youth. She also doted on her as she grew up. She was never more than a phone call away.During her career as a teacher, she changed the life of countless students. She taught at Champion Theme Middle School since 2007 and loved what she did. When Alana got to middle school, she made sure to have her at Champion with her so they were together all day. In addition to being a special education middle school teacher, she also tutored students one-on-one. On occasion, she would run into her students, or their parents, and was always proud to hear how well they were doing and how much further they had taken their education.Angela Rucker departed this life on March 12, 2023. She now rejoins parents and her grandparents and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alana’s father, Michael, and her cousin, Angel. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, her daughter Alana Rucker (Atlanta, GA) and her two siblings Ivory Rucker, III (Macon, GA) and Ava Rucker (Nashville, TN) and her beloved fur baby Marlowe (Stone Mountain, GA).Angela Rucker was loving mother, sister, friend, and educator. Her love encompassed a lot of people, especially her daughter and her siblings. She loved abundantly and without limitations. Mom by Alana RuckerBlindfolded when entering this worldA soul instinctively latches on to a women like a clam and a pearl. The epitome of an angel clothed in goldShe would raise a child to be strong and bold. Her tender love untwists twisted roads to a lost soul.Second by second, minute by minute, day by day, year after yearShe creates an atmosphere that one day she knows will disappear. When that time is nearshe begins to prepare a now understanding soul of the fears awaiting out there. She begins turning those twisted roads into straight paths that leads to successMaking ways out of nothing so nothing but the best is expressedHer morals and values extended in her breathShe makes sure when her baby falls they rest but after the rest becomes the test that she has already given the answers toHer entire life depends on youShe has passed the baton signaling to live onAnd also a crayonto give color to the black, white, and grey thingsShe has passed down her golden wings to let a soul fly high without strings of this world guiding how high the Soul will fly.She left a light that shines bright and a love that money could never buy.Exceptional, magnificent , powerful, remarkable, extraordinary, queen, MOM

  1. I met Ms Rucker when I started working at The Campion Middle School. Although our roles at the school were very different, she was always warm and inviting in her conversation. She seem to enjoy teaching very much. She will be missed by all

  2. Angela was a beautiful woman inside and out. She was always happy, caring, thoughtful, loving, had a zest for life and when she entered a room that room would instantly light up and everyone in that room couldn’t help but smile, feel happy and want to hug her!

I had the privilege of knowing Angela and was lucky to call her my friend. She was always involved in my birthdays and I was happy to share holidays, concerts, dinners and Ava with her. Without Ava in my life, I would have missed out on knowing Angela. Meeting Alana was a bonus to me.

There is a definite void in this world now that she is gone; however, how lucky the Heavens and Angels are to have her Home. She is missed immensely by so many people.

    Angela,
My heart aches for the loss of you, it aches for Ava, Alana and Ivory, but how blessed I am to have known you. I miss you more than you know.

All my sympathy to Ava, Alana, Ivory, family and friends of Angela.

    With love,
    Kelly
