Barbara Jean Anderson

January 18, 1943 ~ October 17, 2025

Barbara Jean Cooper Anderson passed away on October 17, 2025, at the age of 82. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Claude Anderson; her father, Clyde Travis Cooper; her mother, Rosa Lee Rook Cooper; and her brother, Johnny Wayne Cooper. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Christine “Christi” Anderson Hutto (Brian); son, John Claude Anderson; grandchildren, Cooper Lloyd Hutto, Audrey Christine Hutto, Avery Claire Hutto, and John Chace Anderson; brother, Kenneth Lee Cooper (Carolyn); and several nieces and nephews. Jean was born in Spartanburg, SC, on April 18, 1943. She grew up in Enoree, SC, and attended Woodruff High School. She worked as a secretary in Laurens, SC, which is where she met her husband, Jerry. After they were married, they moved to Fayetteville, NC, and had their two children. Jean was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her family, as well as spending time with friends and visiting relatives back in SC. Jean and Jerry also lived in Shelby, NC, before settling down in Walhalla, SC, to raise their children. They moved out to live on Lake Hartwell from 1992-2019. Jean was an avid gardener, and always filled her home with beautiful houseplants and her yard with gorgeous flowers. She loved tending to the plants and had a very green thumb! Jerry even built a greenhouse for her in their backyard in SC. She was also quite creative, and enjoyed doing cross stitch, embroidery, crochet, and many other crafts. Jean was very involved with her children as they grew up, and served as room mom at school, brownie scout leader, team mom for various sports, and carpool driver for the kids and their friends. She was also involved in the local Garden Club in Walhalla. Later in life, Jean enjoyed time on her computer, particularly playing word games and following current court cases. She was a devoted wife, mother, and “Gram,” and treasured time with her family. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
