Barbara Page Strickland

Barbara Page Strickland, age 69 of Lisle, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. Barbara was born on October 5, 1953 in Biloxi, MS, Daughter of Glen E Barnes and Clara Joy Barnes. Her family resided most of her life in Knoxville, TN. She always considered camping with her mother and sister, along with the bears, some of her favorite memories. She graduated from Young High School in Knoxville, TN in 1971. After agreeing to pursue her education for at least two more years before joining the Armed Forces, she enrolled in the University of Tennessee. Barbara was an Air Force Veteran, serving as a communications operator during the Vietnam War. She met Bill at Hurlburt Field Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Their wedding was on Christmas Eve and planned in 10 days, before he was restationed to Riverside, CA. After her tour of duty was complete, she did a wonderful job raising her four children. She was a faithful servant of the Lord throughout her life. She loved glorifying the Lord and teaching others to do the same. She loved adventure; after her marriage she traveled many places around the country in an airstream and camper. One of her favorite accomplishments was winning a trip to Hawaii with Bill while selling Insurance. She also cherished her years camping around the country with 4 kids. As she approached retirement age, her love of travel turned to enthusiasm for hopping in a car or plane to visit her family and friends around the country. Raising her children to know and love the Lord was her greatest achievement, but she also was proud that she went back to school recently to earn her Bachelors of Science Degree from Liberty University, in 2016. Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Glen Barnes; Mother, Clara Joy Barnes; and husband, William StricklandSurvivors include her children, Edward Strickland (Peggy) Sylvia Connell (James), Stephen Strickland (Lisa), and David Strickland (Megahn); grandchildren, Jacob Strickland, Will Strickland, Blake Starnes, Lincoln Strickland, Gabe Strickland, Ella Strickland, Jude Strickland, Madelyn Strickland, Heidi Strickland, and Juliet Strickland; sister, Deborah Barnes; niece, Emily Young and nephew, Robert Bacsik. She is also survived by her Aunt, Sheryl Barnes. A Funeral Service was held at Grace Baptist Church Cartersville on February 16, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.Following the service, a family interment was held at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
