Shortly after, Betty met and married Louis David Batson and they had five beautiful daughters together. In 1987, Betty, along with her children and family, moved from Louisiana to Georgia. Within those wonderful nineteen years, Betty grew to love several son-in-laws and left a legacy of many grandchildren.
Betty enjoyed many career paths over the years and finally settled on a successful career in property management where she met many life long friends and colleagues. She was considered by most to be a mother or parental figure and provided wisdom and guidance to all. Betty was the epitome of a leader and a role model for all colleagues and companions.
Betty enjoyed family, music, dancing, movies, campfires, and a great game of poker. She enjoyed learning and sharing knowledge and loved to love people. She could often be seen helping others. She was extremely giving and kind to everyone and knew no strangers. Betty had a wonderful, infectious laugh and had some great stories to tell. Betty, I’m forever lost without you. You and I sure did have some fun in our lives. While Barbara was in the house with her head in the books, we could be found out in the woods in our fort smoking. I miss you so much already, I’ve wanted to pick up the phone and call you but I know AT&T does not reach where you and Barbara are. I can’t believe I no longer have my biggest supporter and the only one that would laugh at anything I said. Other than Mother, you are the strongest woman I’ve ever known. You spent your entire life sacrificing for others and never once complained. If ever there was someone who knew how to close a bar, it was you. I feel so selfish wanting you back and knowing I’ll never feel your hug again but I know the pain was getting to be too much to bear. I love you, my sweet big sister. Save me a seat, see ya soon. Love you more. Dale

I learned more about my mother this year then I probably knew my whole life. When your a kid your moms just your mom ya know? Shes there to listen to all your problems and fears. She takes care of you. Its easy to forget that she had a whole life before you even existed. She would talk for hours to friends and colleagues just telling stories. I would easedrop on those conversations and just laugh and laugh. I learned things I never knew but the core of who she was I knew all along. She was amazing. She was funny and silly. She was intelligent and brave. She was kind and generous. She was my mom. I love her always and forever.
Love you Mom.
Jessie.

In this time of sadness, it’s important to reflect on the wonderful qualities that made MawMaw an amazing presence in our lives. Her loving, funny, generous, thoughtful, and creative spirit truly had no bounds. With a selfless and gentle nature as delightful as hers, she will always be cherished through fond memories of Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas days, and birthdays spent together. Her legacy as an incredible person, and an even more incredible grandmother, shall forever linger in our hearts.

Mawmaw you were a strong woman, a matriarch of our family and someone who held everyone together like glue. You were sweet and generous and a warm and welcoming soul. Whilst you may not be with us you are somewhere much better and we are left to grieve your passing. In our hearts we know one day we will be reunited with you and it will be a very warm day indeed. I love you and miss you more than words can describe. Fly high and be our guardian angel in these trying times.

Aunt Betty you are loved by so many and will be missed dearly. I will miss your smile and laughs. My prayers are with u and and the grandchildren.
May your heart and soul find peace and comfort. You will be sorely missed. Deepest sympathy and condolences to the family.
Oh, how I loved shopping for you. I always wanted you in the best and latest stuff. When the ladies would see me walk into the store, they knew me by name for always buying your stuff. They all thought I was such a great brother, but I enjoyed buying them more than you did showing them off. I miss you so much, I need you to talk too. I’m a mess without you telling me what to do and how to act. I feel all alone without you and Barbara. It’s been us for so long. I’m lost without your love and tenderness. You were the best big sister anyone could ask for. Thank you for a lifetime of caring and love. Dale

Betty was a great co-worker. She loved to help people get what they needed and tried to follow thru to make sure that whatever was needed a person would truly understand why. You will be missed 💐 Thank you for all the great memories!
My aunt Betty boop will be dearly missed. We know she is in a better place with her loved ones that have also passed over. She is no longer in any pain. She is our angle watching over us as we grow and as her grandbabies and grand neices and nephews grow. She may not be here physically but she is here. She was my go to person to talk to she always listened and then gave her honest opinion on my situation. My husband Willie Thomas and I was always there to help her when she needed help with yard work, house work or him hanging her new shower head up or cleaning her dryer lint out from under her home. We miss and love you Betty Boop you gained your wings fly high.
Sending love and prayers to the family so sorry for your loss
I’ll never forget the amazing time we all had that thanksgiving in Merritt Island. We had you catching fish before the car was even unpacked. Everything from breakfast on the beach to the fresh fish dinner at sunset, it was just an amazing trip. You will forever be missed.
I was Maw Maw’s firstborn grandson, and the impact this incredible woman has had on my life is monumental, just the knowledge she was there if I ever did need her was very comforting to me as I grew up.
I have memories from the past 20 years, but one stands out above the rest for me. It was her birthday in 2021, and she came up to our previous house to celebrate with us, and we had pulled out all the stops to make sure she had a great time.
We made crab cakes and grilled a bunch of food, and she was so surprised when I pulled out her present from a soda box awhile after the rest had been given, the first real present I had ever given in my adult life, a set of sapphire earrings.
Her expression lit up and for me, that made it a memory that stuck with me every time I saw her from then on. We’ll miss you Maw Maw!

I am one of Maw maws grandkids and me and her were always close even though we didn’t see each-other every day. A couple of years ago I lived with her for about a month and cooked her eggs and toast every morning until I had to leave and I loved her very much and was sad when I had to go back home. Also one time mawmaw, my mom, Jerry and me went on a boat in a lake and went fishing and swimming
Love you mawmaw I miss you

When I met Betty years ago on a property off Delk Rd. I knew she was someone that works hard and is loyal to a fault. These were some of the first impressions I had of her and then of course as I got to know her and we worked together I realized what a special person she is and knew that someday I would be able to call her friend as well as coworker. Then as I moved on to another company I asked her to go with me and she did, and she did very well at that company as I knew she would. I have always been proud of her wherever she was at and whatever she was doing because I knew that she was giving it the best that she had and she was smart enough to make that work for her. Betty was one of the most giving and selfless people that I have ever known. We always talked about how we would do anything for our kids and that we always put them first and she definitely was that way. We didn’t talk on a regular basis but we’d go two or three weeks and then catch up with each other just to make sure we were each doing okay and sometimes text in between and just knowing that I can’t do that anymore is heartbreaking. So now I just talk to her. I tell her how much I miss her. She will truly be missed by all that knew her.
Thank you for loving my mom so much and being a wonderful friend to her! 🩷
Momma opening a gift feom Lela. She made me laugh so hard. Love you momma for making everyday amazing and special. Save me a seat in heaven.
Betty was “all in” on everything. If she loved you, she was all in. If you needed help, she was all in. If work team needed her, she was all in. If a resident needed her, she was all in. Betty had a big heart and an even bigger need to serve others. I will never forget her and thankful for each and every memory we shared. She was a one of kind human that will be missed here on earth.

Aunt Betty was more like my second mom. She always told me I was the son she wish she had. My aunt was always fun and life of the party. Aunt Betty would want us all to smile and not to cry, over her death. I know she would say; go take an adventure, travel or have a drink. So I will raise a glass to you, and travel as much as I can. Love you always your want to be son. Missing you forever.
RIP Ms. Betty, you will always be remembered. Thank you for being a mentor to me in my career. Above all, thank you for having my back when I needed it the most. You were always there. Thank you for all the memories.
Until we meet again. I love you Ms. Betty.

Betty you were one of the first smiling faces I saw on January 19, 2015. Everyday since that day you wore that same smile and I looked forward to seeing that smile for the past 5 years (until COVID took us out). May you rest in peace and I pray you are with your soul mate!!

Ms Betty, I was sad to hear that you gained your wings. I want to thank you again for taking me under your wing and helping me when I started working with you. You were always someone I could turn around and say pssssst Ms Betty I need yooooou. You never looked said or seemed frustrated when asking for your help. I also loved your sense of humor. Peaches as you and Punkin (Lela) affectionately called me was always and still so funny. I will always remember your beautiful smile and how passionate you were about helping others and your work. You were and awesome mom, grandmother and friend to many. You’re an angel that will be missed but never forgotten.

My memories of the beautiful and huge heart of my friend Mrs. Betty were of kindness and caring. She was the one to interview me for HavenBrook. She encouraged me to grow not only work wise but personally. She leant an ear to listen when times were tough and I lost my mom. We shared a lot of the same experiences in life and I will always be grateful to her. I will miss her greatly.
