Charles Lewis Darden

December 2, 1959 ~ May 8, 2023

Charles Lewis Darden, affectionately known as “Nuddy,” suddenly departed this life on May 8, 2023, following a brief illness at Wellstar Cobb Hospital and entered eternal rest. He was born on December 2, 1959, in Rockmart, Georgia. Charles was educated through the Rockmart Public School System. He worked numerous jobs and was employed with Tallatoona of Polk County in tenure. Charles spent the past six years living in Douglasville and Powder Springs, Georgia. Here, he became a fixture riding shotgun with his niece wherever the daily tasks would take them, and he was an avid watcher of the 80’s and 90’s tv sitcoms, a weekly attendee at the One Way Adult Social Center in Dallas, Georgia, and a Silver Homes of Powder Springs resident. Charles loved family time gatherings and good food. His favorite food was chicken cooked in any kind of way. He would always tell you he hadn’t eaten anything, even if he had. As the journey with diabetes and dementia became a way of life, Charles was surrounded by goodness and merciful angels directed by God. He had a gentle spirit and a caring heart. Charles was born to the late James Edward Darden, Sr., and Beatrice Cooper Darden. He was the youngest of seven children. His parents preceded him in death; all his siblings, three sisters: Sarah Darden, Regina Cooper Endsley, and Ella Mae White; three brothers: Joseph Cooper, Sr., James Darden, Jr., and Wayne Darden. Charles leaves to cherish his memories four nieces: Carla (Murphy) Campbell, Bobi Endsley (Lance), Tamela Jones, and Shonita Ortega; three nephews: Joseph (Keisha) Cooper, Jr., Sean Cooper, and Barry Endsley; a host of grand nieces, grandnephews, brother-in-law William Endsley, and many other relatives and friends. Nobody knew how his heart sang, but God gave him life; his latter years were his greater ones. May you rest in the joyfulness of Paradise on the wings of eternity in grace and love. Uncle, may you be at peace and bask in heaven’s goodness. Special thanks to Ms. June Krise with SOURCE, Ms. Olivia Butler and the Silver Homes Personal Care Home, Ms. Iris Lance, Ms. April White, and Staff at One Way Adult Social Center, Mrs. Bukie Adenugba and the Visiting Nurse Health System, Dr. Richard Antonio, Dr. Karina Belinfante with Emory HealthCare. The staff at Southern Cremations and Funerals at Cheatham Hill thank you for entrusting us with the care of your loved one and family and wish to express our sincerest condolences during this difficult time.
