Cynthia Elliott Simmons

Cindy, as she was lovingly referred to by those who knew her, went to eternal rest on March 9th 2023 in the 85th year of her life. She leaves behind a loving son Dennis III (Lindsay) and her grandchild Elliott who will miss her very much. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years Dennis Jr. only six months ago. She will be remembered for being a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, Sunday school teacher, fantastic cook, and a woman who was strong in her faith. Cindy was born in LaGrange, GA to Hall Searcy Elliott and Alyce Wood Elliott. Her father, a WWII veteran, moved his family to Marietta for a job at Lockheed where she attended and graduated from Marietta High School in 1957. In 1962 she married Dennis Simmons Jr. She was a stay-at-home mother for many years, and also before and after had several positions in bookkeeping and office management. In 2003 she joined her husband in retirement where she spent a lot of her time birdwatching and reading. She became a grandmother in 2010 and she took joy in helping to watch her only grandson.
