Morris, Debra "Debi" L., of Rochester Hills, Michigan passed away on Wednesday May 1, 2024. Debi was born in Piqua, Ohio and grew up in Dayton, Ohio, graduating from Fairview High School in 1969. Preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Morris of Dayton, Ohio and Troy, Michigan, Father Don Oakes, Grandmothers, Gladys Oakes and Ruth Grant, grandfathers, David Oakes and Ted Grant, all of Dayton, Ohio. Brother David Oakes of Dayton, Ohio and Las Vegas, Nevada.
In 1983, Debi moved to Troy, Michigan where she spent 40 years in marketing for the auto industry. She was an avid Detroit and Ohio State Buckeye sports fan, and loved cheering on her teams. Her life was filled with travel to all different parts of the world and was often lucky enough to play golf on many of the most prestigious courses.
When Debi became a grandmother, her focus shifted to her grandchildren whom she adored. In 2022, she sold her house in Michigan and moved to Dallas, Georgia to be near 2 out of her 3 grandchildren. She is survived by her mother, Geneva B Shellabarger of Lima, Ohio, daughters, Holly Rogus (Darren Siler) of Dallas, Georgia and Jennifer Morris of West Bloomfield, Michigan. Her grandchildren, Deven and Daysia Siler of Dallas, Georgia, and Grace Morris of West Bloomfield, Michigan, brother Dan T. Oakes (Lise Anne) also of Lima, Ohio. Sister-in-Law Margaret Oakes of Las Vegas, Nevada. Nieces, Lesley Oakes, Stacy Oakes, and Tiffiney Elguera (Jose) all of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Jennifer Mendoza (Ivan) of Hampton, Virginia and Mindy Rew (Tom) of Poquoson, Virginia, Nikki McMillian (Will) of Henderson, Nevada and nephew Doug Larson of Las Vegas, Nevada. Several cousins, great nieces and nephews and many friends. Also, by her sweet boy, Sir Percy, that brought her such joy since she rescued him in 2021.
Debi touched every person she ever met, whether just an introduction or friends for several years. She loved people, entertaining, sharing her wisdom with anyone who would listen, and bragging about her grandchildren. She loved to play golf and was a member of The Wyndgate and The Heathers Club for many years. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
We invite you to join us for a Celebration of Life Luncheon honoring Debi, on Saturday, June 29 from 12-3pm at Boulder Pointe Golf Club, located at One Champions Circle, Oxford, Michigan 48371. Click HERE to RSVP by June 15, to let us know that you will be joining us.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to one of the three following charities in her name: Local Law Enforcement agency, Tunnel of Towers, or the Wounded Warriors Project. In true Debi fashion, the family asks that you wear Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, Lions, Pistons, or Golf Swag. She would not want black. The family thanks you for your continued support as they navigate through this great loss.

Won many golf tournaments at Wyngate and Indianwood with my dear friend.
Traveled all over the world with her. Will never forget that we made my husband drive us in Ireland and we two sat in the back seat afraid of the crazy traffic.
We were going to get together now that she was closer in Georgia. Sad to know that’s not going to happen now. See you in heaven dearest Debi.

Debi was “one in a million”! She invited my mom & me to every family get-together, putting together amazing meals with beautiful place settings in her dining room. She was a phenomenal stepmom to my daughter, Jenni! The best of the best! Debi truly did not complain about her health challenges to anyone, including not even to her own daughter, Holly, AKA “the best caregiver ever”!
I know of very few that would never ever complain. Such a generous classy lady!💔💯🏆👏
As we remember Ms Morris today, let us celebrate the incredible legacy she left behind. Her life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication. She taught us that true greatness lies not in our achievements but in how we impact the lives of others.
Though her time with me was far too short, but her spirit will forever remain a guiding light. She lived with a purpose and a passion that will continue to inspire us all. In her memory, let us strive to live with the same joy, compassion, and unwavering dedication to making the world a better place.
Rest in peace, Ms Debra Morris You will be profoundly missed, but your light will shine on in our hearts forever. Good night angel until we meet to part no more!!!.
LOVE ALWAYS,
CHI
The last time I saw Debi is when she played golf with me in the Silver Birch Member-Guest at Birchwood Country Club in Harbor Springs, MI in August 2012. I met her when she escorted us all over the world when my husband Archie hired Maritz Travel to do trips for General Motors. She was a dear friend and enjoyed being with her!
With our deepest condolences, and prayers for you and your family! We loved Debi, she was an amazing person, and we are better people for it.
