Dorothy Simmons

June 28, 1934 ~ December 7, 2022

Dorothy Simmons passed away peacefully at 3:00pm on December 7th, 2022 to be with her Lord at the age of 88 years old. Dorothy was born on June 28th, 1934 to the late Mabel Simmons within the section of Hunterville of Norfolk, Virginia. At birth, she was given the name Peaches because of her chubby cheeks. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mabel Simmons, daughter, Naomi Fleming; siblings, Richard Noble Simmons, James Edwards Simmons, and Marie Winslow. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Marsha Davis; sons, Eric Simmons, James Simmons, Troy Simmons, and Scotty Jones; sister 90 years old, Naomi Johnson Irving; countless grandchildren , great grandchildren, and a host of niece and nephews. Dorothy loved spending time with her family. If she was not spending time with her family, you could find Peaches enjoying bingo, and penny slots at the casino. She also had a love of word puzzle books and keeping up with the news in the supermarkettabloids. She will truly be missed by all that was blessed by her presence! A special thank you to the extended family, friends, Pampa, FedEx, P&F Machining(Otsego MN), Stepchild Restaurants (Mpls, Mn) . In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to the Simmons Family so they can purchase dinner for the Seniors, in the name of Dorothy Simmons.

  1. There is only one Peaches. We will always love and cherish her. To the family keep holding on to God’s unchanging hands. We love you all!!!

  2. Q: What was Dorothy’s favorite recipe?

A: She love for me to cook liver and rice for her, and also pig feet.

  3. My little big sister through marriage.
Has always been right there with James and Lenee except for few years she stayed with Marsha Ann.

  4. My Aunt Peaches was an amazing woman in so many ways to me. She took into her heart and home a small unwanted baby girl and loved her like she was her own. She could make you laugh and cry at the same time. She was sassy and at times had no filters. She loved unconditionally. My Aunt Peaches loved to be on the go…she woukd not turn down any opportunity to go any where. She taught me how to not give up even when life is hard. She loved my sweet potato pies. I feel so blessed to have known her. My kids and I will never forget her. We didn’t have much growing up in Huntersville but one thing we did have is an abundancy of love. Rest in peace my Queen and thank you for just being you. I will miss you but you will never be forgotten Your niece Doris

  5. To My Aunt Peaches:
A woman full of strength, tenacity and most of all love.
Often her love was shown in a “feisty” form which taught me balance between compassion and character.
I remember being amazed at how much she loved to watch wrestling! WWE to be exact.
Growing up I had alot of male cousins so of course a tomboy stage was inevitable. My Aunt Peaches never told me I couldn’t do something because I was a girl. She actually encouraged me to beat the boys at any and all games. You can imagine how that translated into my adulthood. I love you “Lil Ol Lady”(inside joke). Thank you for being a part of the foundation of what made me who I am today. I celebrate your love and your life. Always. ❤🙏🏾🕊
