  2. In loving memory of Mrs. Eunice Brooks.

  3. From time to time, I look out the back kitchen window of my family home and longingly think about the great neighbors who once lived behind us—the Brooks. Mrs. Brooks was in education like my parents and I remember her writing a recommendation letter for me to join the profession as a substitute teacher when my life was in a tizzy. She encouraged me to pursue my studies again and applauded me when I became a certified teacher later in life. I am forever grateful for her nonjudgmental support and guidance. This is the only photo I have of her but I think it appropriate because she is seated in the church pew at Providence Missionary Baptist Church next to mom and dad as you would find them for many years on Sunday mornings. Thank you Mrs. Brooks. May you rest in peace.

  4. My deepest condolences for the loss of your loved one. Eunice lived a life full of wisdom, kindness, love and friendliness that touched the hearts of many. I pray that you feel surrounded by an outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. May her memories forever be a source of comfort for you all.

  5. Eunice Brooks was such a sweet, sweet lady who I came to love as I served along side her as a deaconess at Providence Missionary Baptist Church. I hated when I lost touch with her, but I always remembered how she encouraged me, laughed with me and simply showed me her friendship. I know she is with the angels in heaven. May she rest in peace.

  6. Forever In My Heart Aunt Eunice, I Know My Father Harvey Is Rejoicing Now ! Love You Always !

  7. It was the mid 70s that I met the very poised lovely Eunice Woods Brooks. She was the president of the Young Women Christian Club (YWCC) of the Second Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. I was a shy young woman in my 20’s. Mrs. Brooks lovingly mentored, firmly corrected and assisted in my becoming the strong confident woman that I am today. Just as she did so many others. Her caring was not unique to just me. During the course of over 45 years our relationship blossomed and grew into a very supportive loving, trusting one. We spend so much special time just laughing, talking and sharing life experiences. Both good and sometimes not so good. She allowed me to call her Mom. My own beloved mom had died when I was only 13. Mom Brooks adored her family, especially her two sons, her grandchildren, cherished friends and church members. Later in life joining Providence Missionary Baptist Church that was closer to their home. They loved it there.

I remember well one of the last somewhat troubled conversations we shared in October 2019, “Joy I just have to keep on going, keep on trusting ….” Well beautiful lady, rest well, you’ve made it home. You knew me so well just as I knew you. You understand why I will not, cannot say goodbye, but we will see each other by and by. Until then RIP I will always love you 🙏🏽💖
