A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR HASALEEN CHESTER

“I have fought a good fight; I have finished the course. I have kept the Faith; Henceforth is laid up for me a crown of righteousness
I Timothy 4:7-8
Hasaleen Chester also known as Hazel was born on January 4, 1939, in Rosignal-Berbice, Guyana to the late Ruby and Richard Chester. Hazel was affectionally known as Bertyl to her family and childhood friends.
Hazel attended Roman Catholic School in New Amsterdam up to the sixth standard. Because of her love for children, she became a teacher. Hazel quickly realized that she not only had a love for children, but her desire was to help anyone in need which catapulted her into becoming a midwife and then a registered nurse. In 1967 Hazel migrated to the USA and began working at Brookdale and Maimonides Hospital as a registered nurse. Hazel served as a nurse for 35 years before retirement and enjoyed being of assistance to many.
Hazel loved the Lord with all her heart, and she was not shy about letting others know her love for God as she was never shy or ashamed to praise her Jesus.
Hazel's greatest joy was cooking for her family and friends. Hazel's home was the home many frequented for love, a big hug, advice and a good meal. Once you had a taste of Hazel's food you would swear that you had gone to heaven. Hazel's second greatest joy was vacationing with her sister, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, daughter in law and friends.
We understand that life and death are in the power of God's hands. So, on Saturday December 19, 2021, God decided to quietly call Hazel to her heavenly reward.
Hazel is resting safe in Jesus arms with her son Kevin and parents who preceded her in death. Those left to cherish Hazels memory are her children, Trevor, Debbie(John), Sonia(Alfred), Roxanne, Bonus son Justin(Mercedes), Grandchildren, Alise(David), Kevin Jr, Jessica(Jamaar), Brandon(Talia), Alliyah, Taylor, Brittany. Great Grandchildren Aaliyah, Tamia and Arielle. Siblings, Queen, Evadnie, Joy, Joyclyn and Keith. And many other special sons, daughters nieces , nephews, cousins and friends.
