Henry Johnson Jr.

Henry Johnson Jr. was the sixth of eight children born to the late Henry E. & Edith (Cumberlander) Johnson of Lanett, Alabama on January 23, 1949. He attended Lanier High School where he enjoyed playing basketball and football graduating in 1967 with the recognition of best dress. Shortly after graduating he moved to Atlanta, GA with his siblings where he became professionally employed and retired from Blue Circle Cement after 30 Years. Not one to sit still he worked an additional 10 Years at Georgia State University in maintenance. He was baptized and became a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Atlanta, He had many hobbies that included carpentry, welding, automotive repair & restoration but his favorite hobby was cooking and eating. He was widely known for his loving and caring spirit, ready to help and assist when called upon without hesitation. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Edith Johnson, Brother Wiley Johnson, & Sister LaMerle Haywood On January 8, 2024, Henry was called home to be with the Lord. He is survived by his wife, Mattie Johnson, daughter Tomaca Johnson, Two sons, Michael Johnson and Monego Johnson, Granddaughter Ahsha Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia. Five sisters, Lavonne (Russell) Johnson of Springfield Massachusetts, Gwendolyn Wood of Windsor Connecticut, Lorraine Seroy of Chicago, IL, Dorothy Young and Susie (Bobby) Barker of Atlanta, Georgia, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
