In Loving Memory of James Edward Jackson
James Edward Jackson, born August 29, 1961, passed away peacefully at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia at 11:22AM on February 17, 2026.
Born in Biloxi, Mississippi, James was a proud country man whose Southern roots shaped the way he lived — with grit, heart, humor, and love.
James honorably served his country in the Army National Guard. His time in service reflected his strength, resilience, and deep sense of duty — qualities that carried through every part of his life.
It was often said that James had nine lives. He faced life head-on, with a stubborn streak that showed his determination, and a soft heart that revealed his deep love for others. He was funny, friendly, caring, loving, and sensitive — and those closest to him knew he wasn’t afraid to shed a tear. That tenderness was part of what made him so special.
A skilled carpenter, James took pride in building with his hands and creating things that would last. He loved horses, the country's lifestyle, and the simple pleasures of life. A loyal fan of the Atlanta Falcons, he stood by his team through every win and loss.
He enjoyed shooting pool, sipping on a beer, watching western television shows, and playing his music loud enough for the whole neighborhood — especially the folks at the corner store — to hear. He loved gathering with his buddies, sharing laughs, and most of all, spending time with his family. If something wasn’t going his way, he would smile and say, “Not today,” a phrase that perfectly captured his fighting spirit and personality.
James leaves behind his loving fiancé, Sharion Cameron (Atlanta, Georgia) Children-; two sons, Marcus Davis and James Davis (Dallas, Texas); four daughters, LaToya Davis (Dallas, Texas), LaTasha Jackson-Mbye (Laurel, Maryland), India Jackson (Houston, Texas), and Angel Sankey (Atlanta, Georgia); grandchildren, Marcus Davis II (Dallas, Texas), Samiyah Davis (Duncanville, Texas), Breonna Henderson (Dallas, Texas), James Davis Jr. (Corpus Christi, Texas), Riley Henderson (Dallas, Texas), Mariyah Davis (Plano, Texas), Marco Davis (Plano, Texas), Ina Jackson (Houston, Texas). Siblings- brothers, Wendell Jones (San Jose, California), Ronnie Jackson (Mobile, Alabama), Randall Jones (San Jose, California); sisters, Barbra Moore (College Station, Texas), Marilyn Jackson (Natchez, Mississippi), Carrie Jackson (Natchez, Mississippi), Patricia Kees (Vicksburg, Mississippi), Janice Means (Toccoa, Georgia), Lisa Leon (Dallas, Texas) and Antonia Porter (Atlanta, Georgia).
He cherished his children and family deeply and loved them fiercely in his own way.
James Edward Jackson will be remembered for his laughter, his resilience, his country soul, and the love he gave so freely. Though he is no longer with us in body, his memory will live on in every song played loud, every pool game played, every Falcons game watched, and every story shared about the man who seemed to have nine lives.
