James Franklin Maddox

March 22, 1942 ~ October 21, 2022

James Franklin Maddox passed away peacefully at his home on Friday October 21, 2022. He was the son of the late Posey Eugene and Irene Burdett Maddox. Jim was born in Sandy Springs, Georgia on March 22, 1942 and was a life-long member of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church. He was in the first graduating class of Sandy Springs High School, Class of 1960. In 1965, he earned a BS degree in Industrial Management, College of Business from Georgia Institute of Technology where he was also a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He loved the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Tech and always placed his hand over his heart when driving by the Tech campus. He had a long and successful career at Lockheed Martin and retired on March 22, 2002. He was a member of the Smyrna Lions Club. Jim was always impeccably dressed, a great dancer, and fun to be around. He enjoyed being outside, playing golf, going for walks, working in the yard and bird watching. Jim married Gloria “Pat” Pinson on Febuary 9, 2002. He and Pat enjoyed spending time with family and friends and kept up with many friends from high school. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat Pinson Maddox, two sons, Lee Maddox (Dana) and Neal Maddox, granddaughters, Austin Whitmire, Chandler Levinson (Micah), Reese Maddox and Peyton Maddox, sister Phyllis (Charlie) Nichols, nephews Brad (Malin) Nichols, Christopher (Nasseim) Nichols and niece, Ashley Nichols. He is also survived by Pat’s children, Lisa (Chris) Price, Scott Pinson, Bryan (Rachelle) Pinson and Christy (Robby) Stargel and grandchildren Taylor, Courtney and Will Price, Baylee Pinson, Zachary and Jacob Pinson, Lawson, Andrew and Annie Laura Stargel. The family would like to thank Amity Care Hospice for their compassionate care over the last several months. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will take place on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at 3pm at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church, 86 Mount Vernon Highway, Atlanta, Georgia 30328. Reception immediately following in the fellowship hall.
