James "Jim" Baum

March 16, 1947 ~ April 1, 2024

James “Jim” Baum, beloved partner, father, friend, and avid movie enthusiast, passed away on April 1, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born on March 16, 1947, in Joy, Illinois, to the late Robert J. Baum and Louise M. Locey Baum. James had a profound love for movies, with a special affinity for the timeless classic "The Wizard of Oz." He cherished the magical journey it provided and often found solace in its enchanting narrative. His passion for cinema extended beyond mere entertainment; it was a source of joy and inspiration that he shared generously with his family and friends. In addition to his love for film, James was known for his kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to his loved ones. He was a devoted partner to Joe Carr for 40 years, a loving father, and a cherished friend to many. He leaves behind to cherish his memory partner Joe Carr; son Anthony (Tiffani) Baum; daughter Melissa (David) Hermisillo; son Britt (Ashley) Carr; eight grandchildren; other relatives; and too many friends to name whom he considered family. James will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will be forever cherished, and his legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. A memorial service to celebrate James's life will be held on April 10, 2024, The Village Church in Hapeville, Georgia, at 7:00pm. Rest in peace, Jim. May your spirit soar over the rainbow, skip down that yellow brick road, and find eternal peace in the land of Oz.
