James Leroy Lightfoot

James Leroy Lightfoot, aka, ‘Jimmy’, 75, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2022, at the Veteran hospital in Decatur, Georgia. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 28,1946 to the late Thelma and Phillip Lightfoot. James graduated from Overbrook High school in Philadelphia. James served in the Army for six years and did two tours in Vietnam. He was also known to work as a restoration construction worker throughout Georgia. As a young boy he loved horse-back riding, and swimming; as well later taking fishing up as a hobby. James is preceded in death by his beloved wife the late Vernodia aka ‘Tiny’ Lightfoot; and two sisters, Barbara Lightfoot and Carol Stanton. James was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. James is survived by his four children, one son Craig Lightfoot (SC), three daughters Michelle McClusky (Ga), Brandi Kindle (Ga), and August Kindle (Ga). Eight Grandchildren; Dedric Scott, Justin Brock, Cornelius Lightfoot, Malik Lightfoot, Diamond Pitts, Damani Kindle, Dru Kindle & Cameron Collins; Seven siblings, Phyliss Lightfoot (Philadelphia), April Lightfoot (Maryland), Myra Ringgold (Maryland), Keith Lightfoot (Lorraine), Christopher Lightfoot (Bonita), Philip Douglas Lightfoot (Maryland) and Valerie Lightfoot (Maryland). He is also survived by a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
