Janice Caradonna Fredo, 83, of Sandy Springs, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2023. She was born January 12, 1940 in New Orleans, Louisiana, daughter of the late Francis (Frank) and Anna Caradonna. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Joseph Fredo who died in 2008. Her survivors include her, son, Marc Fredo, daughter, Suzanne Fredo Olczak and her husband David, and granddaughter, Lauren Grace Olczak. Janice devoted her life to loving her family and spending time with her closest friends. Her main passion was early childhood education and she served nearly 40 years as a teacher in the Dekalb County, Georgia public education system. She touched hundreds of children’s lives, particularly, in some of the most challenging situations. She did so with enthusiasm, hope and dedication day in and day out. Additionally, her colleagues became best friends and her second family throughout the years. She had a fondness for the ocean and beach spending an abundance of her time the last 40 years on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, which became her second home and the place most dear to her heart. She was enthusiastic about her birth state of Louisiana, from the culture, music, food, and especially her love for Louisiana State University football. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 10:00 am, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 7171 Glenridge Drive, Sandy Springs, GA 30328, 770-394-3896. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at https://raise.stjude.org/fundraiser/4993914 or call 1-800-822-6344 in memory of Janice C. Fredo.
