Jeanette Powell

May 1, 1939 ~ August 19, 2023

Jeanette Amelia Powell, a pillar of love and strength, peacefully passed away on August 19, 2023, at the age of 84. Born on May 1, 1939, her journey through life was marked by an unwavering devotion to her family and an enduring spirit of kindness. Jeanette's legacy is one of love and commitment. She shared a beautiful journey of 66 years in marriage with her beloved husband, Ron Powell, whom she married on June 22, 1957. Their bond was a testament to the power of love, loyalty, and companionship. As a devoted mother, Jeanette leaves behind a profound impact on her daughters: Karen Huft, Kathy Smith, and Kim Bailey. Her nurturing guidance, endless support, and gentle wisdom enriched their lives immeasurably. Jeanette's legacy extends to her six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, who were the apples of her eye. Her nurturing nature and boundless affection created lasting memories that will forever shape their lives. While we mourn her passing, we find solace in the reunion she now shares with her parents, Homer and Dora Williams and son Keith Powell, who preceded her in death. Their love and guidance surely paved the way for the remarkable woman she became. A celebration of Jeanette's life will be held on Friday, August 25th @ 1pm at Southern Cremations and Funerals at Holly Hill. As we say our final goodbyes, let us remember Jeanette Amelia Powell as a beacon of love, a source of strength, and a woman whose impact on our lives will forever glow in our hearts. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished and the love she sowed. "Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed, and very dear."

  1. Aunt Jean was truly one of a kind! Her humor and straightforward nature is what I will miss most about her. I have so many special childhood memories of her and Uncle Ronnie and the kids while growing up. While I am sad that I didn’t spend much time with her in my adult years, I will always cherish the memories I have. I’m so glad we had a family reunion a few years ago. That’s how I will remember her. To my family, I love you very much! Know that she is walking those streets of gold alongside those who have gone on before her. It is not “goodbye”… just “see you later”.
