Joe Willie Johnson

April 18, 1934 ~ February 10, 2026

Joe Willie “Cat Daddy” Johnson peacefully went to be with the Lord at the age of 91 on February 6, 2026. He was born on April 18, 1934, in Mississippi, and was raised in Gary, Indiana, where he spent his early years learning the value of faith, hard work, and perseverance. Joe was one of several siblings and carried the love and lessons from those early family bonds with him throughout his life. As a young boy, he picked cotton an experience that instilled in him resilience, strength, and a work ethic that would carry him through every chapter of his life. In his young adulthood, Joe migrated to Brooklyn, New York, where he reunited with his childhood sweetheart, Beulah Mae Constantine. What began as young affection blossomed into a beautiful season of courtship, rooted in friendship, devotion, and unwavering love. After several meaningful years together, their love story culminated in marriage on December 25, 1959 Christmas Day a fitting and joyful date that marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership grounded in faith, commitment, and family. Together, Joe and Beulah built a beautiful life and were blessed with two sons, Jeffrey and Joey. Shortly after beginning their life as husband and wife, they relocated to Coney Island to start a new chapter. There, they continued building their home on a foundation of love, perseverance, and shared dreams, with Joe remaining a devoted husband and father, steadfast in providing for and supporting his growing family through every season of life. Joe’s professional journey reflected both his adventurous spirit and his dedication to providing for his family. He worked as a chef on a cruise ship, traveling and sharing his culinary talents with many. Later, he began his longstanding career with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), where he worked faithfully until retirement, earning the respect and admiration of his coworkers. Later in life, Joe relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where he was lovingly cared for by his devoted granddaughter, Quaticqua Johnson, and his only daughter-in-law, Suggie. Suggie embraced him not just as family, but with the tenderness, patience, and dedication of someone truly committed to his comfort and well-being. She ensured he was surrounded by love, dignity, and compassion each day, tending to his needs and making sure he never felt alone. Alongside Quaticqua, their home became a place of warmth, laughter, and meaningful moments. This season of his life was filled with continued family connection, unwavering support, and cherished memories that will forever be treasured. Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beulah Mae Johnson, and his son, Joey Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memory Jeffery Johnson, and by his cherished grandchildren: Quaticqua, Ariane , Wendell , Kendell , and Isaiah, along with extended relatives and dear friends whose lives he touched deeply. Affectionately known as “Cat Daddy,” Joe had a presence that could light up any room the moment he walked in. His smile was warm, his spirit was magnetic, and his energy was unforgettable. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who wore each role with pride and purpose. Whether offering guidance, sharing a story, or simply sitting in quiet company, he made those around him feel seen and appreciated. His charm, quick wit, and natural sense of humor brought laughter to family gatherings and comfort during difficult times. Joe carried a quiet wisdom shaped by years of experience, perseverance, and faith. He gave generously of his time, his advice, and his love, never hesitating to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Above all, he had a rare gift the ability to make everyone feel welcomed, valued, and deeply loved. His presence was not just noticed; it was felt, and it will be missed beyond measure. As we lay Joe to rest, we celebrate a life beautifully lived. He was a proud and devoted fan of the New York Mets, and in his honor, the family warmly invites everyone to wear orange and blue as we gather to celebrate his remarkable life and lasting legacy.
