John Raymond Carter

June 27, 1950 ~ August 31, 2022

John Raymond Carter of Ellijay, Georgia passed away peacefully at Heritage Hospice on August 31, 2022after a long illness. He was 72 years old. He is predeceased by his father William A. Carter Sr. and his mother Marian Louise Carter. He leavesbehind is brother William (Bill) A. Carter, Jr. and his sister Bonita Barron and his children: Lisa Lawrence(Kevin), Robert Carter, William Carter, and Charles Carter. He also has 9 grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren. John graduated from Wheeler High School in 1968 where he played football and ran track. He workedas an air conditioning mechanic at Lockheed for 40 years before retiring in 2019. John will be cremated by Southern Cremation and Funerals. He will be buried at a later date in Valdosta,Georgia with his parents Bill and Marian.   1. Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of John?

    A: John was always the funniest person I knew. He could bring laughter to even the most dull or depressing times. It was a joy growing up with him.

  2. Q: How did you meet John?

    A: John introduced himself to me as I slept in my bassinet, just home from the hospital. He grabbed my bottle and threw it at me!
