Johnnie Bivins-Hampton

April 8, 1930 ~ February 19, 2024

Mrs. Johnnie Bivins Hampton was born in Thomaston Ga. to the parents of John P. and Dollie Louise Mann. She is the oldest of six children- two sets of twins. She has two brothers and three sisters. Johnnie graduated from David T. Howard and Booker T. Washington high school in 1949. Later moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1950. She met and married Lonnie Bivins Sr. in 1952And to this union a blessing of twins, Lonnie and Ronnie, after her divorce from Lonnie Sr. She met and married Norman Hampton of Cincinnati Ohio in 1990. She worked for the J.L Hudson company in Detroit as a supervisor for the federated stores, until her retirement in 1980. Also she worked during elections as Polling Precinct Supervisor. Mrs. Bivins- Hampton was a surrogate mother to the children in the community, a foster mother, a mentor and an adviser to them. She was recognized by the state of Ohio, for her work with 1st Step Out reach program for abuse Women and children. In 1991, she and her husband united with the Greater Liberty Missionary Baptist church in Cincinnati and later joined the Missionary ministry and continued serving where needed. She served as the President of the Greater Liberty Missionary Ministry, and was recognized for exemplary service by the Hamilton County Missionary Union, the Cincinnati Sub- District and Western Union Missionary Baptist Convention.In 2003, Mrs. Bivins- Hampton was asked to serve as one of the WUBDA Women's auxiliary Vice presidents. In October, 2011, she would complete her final year as First Vice president. In 2006, she was asked to serve as one of the Presidents of Hamilton County Missionary Union and completed her final year as President of HCMU in December, 2011.
