Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Johnnie Hughes was born on September 6,1952 to Virgil Hughes and Lucy
Mae Moore in Mark, Mississippi. He moved to Chicago at a young age. He attended
Gladstone Elementary and met his soul mate.
In the 1970’s, he married the love of his life and has been married over 46 years.
Johnnie was the youngest of his siblings. He was a hardworking man who worked long
hours in warehouses to help provide for his family. He was a very dedicated family man
who was a very involved active father, taking the kids anywhere they wanted to go
whether it was from school events to sports or even just somewhere as simple as the
grocery store.
One of his favorite things to do was go fishing; he had the patience. He was very active,
always taking a bike ride or mowing the grass not just at his house but at his sister-in
law house as well. He loved to take his car and go for drives or just lay on the couch and
play the game on his phone, he also enjoyed sitting in the garage watching the kids play.
Johnnie was a quiet loving individual. He will always be remembered for the acts of
kindness he has shown his family. His presence will be greatly missed but the
memories we will cherish forever.
With open arms, he was greeted by his wife Dyanna Hughes, his mother Lucy Mae
Moore, his father Virgil Hughes, and siblings Danny Lee and Walter Lee Hughes, who
preceded him in death.
He is remembered by his loving children: Sharella Hughes, Kaschell (Jarod) Hughes,
Jerome Hughes, Janeka Allen, Dominique Allen; grandchildren: Dashari Hughes, Kaelani
Hughes, Jordyn Hughes, Camiyah Cawthon, Camilla Cawthon, JaKai Aleem, Jianna
Cawthon, Jaylah Williams, Jamirah William’s; sibling Royal Lee, and a host of family and
friends.
