Marietta Southern Funerals & Cremations
Jonathan Patrick Love, age 53 of Marietta, GA, departed this life January 19, 2024, after a three- year battle with cancer. Jon was an enthusiastic husband and father; a humble and gentle soul who made his family incredibly proud. He will be missed dearly by all who loved him.
Jon was born August 25, 1970, in Decatur and brought home to his family on North Rocksprings Road. His Granny and Granddad Love gave him a solid foundation and a place he could always call home. Jon attended Brook Valley Church, where he professed his faith in Christ. His mother Carla provided consistent prayer and guidance for Jon- forever his #1 champion. Jon was a big brother to Abbi- being her protector, confidant, and friend in return for her life-long adoration. Favorite Aunt Terrie taught Jon to ride shotgun and how to find the humor in life. Cousin Bret was his first best friend. Jon could often be heard discussing his favorite teams with Uncle Dean, FIL Bruce, and his brothers-in-law- The Braves, Falcons and Bulldogs. Jon learned golf and how to work with his hands by being under Granddad’s shadow. He loved fishing, football, hiking and being outdoors. He attended Georgia State University and loved building things, which he turned into his profession remodeling homes. Jon valued hard work, honest relationships, and making others happy.
Jon met Elizabeth Edenfield, his perfect partner, in 2005. His life was transformed in a heartbeat as the two became inseparable. They were married in 2009 at the Edenfield’s family home in Dahlonega. Together, they enjoyed weekends on the lake, traveled, and enjoyed good food, family and friends. They built their home, their life and their dream of having their own family.
Blair Frances Love was born in September 2014, and Jon cherished everything about being her dad: pacing the floors, all of the firsts, making her giggle, nighttime routines, classroom parties, softball practices, father-daughter dances. If ever a daughter completed a man, Blair did that for Jon. He would want her to know how much he loved her every single day.
Jon is survived by his steadfast wife of 14 years, Elizabeth Edenfield Love and their daughter Blair; his mother Carla Johnsen (Lawayne), sister Abbigail Abraham (Edward), aunts Terrie Smith (Dean) and Lee Love; cousins Bret Love (Mary Gabbett), Courtney Smith, Lauren Deal (Doug), Matthew Love, Brandon Smith, Josh Smith (Paige); and the Edenfield family: Bruce and Mary Anna Edenfield, Caroline and Chris Morris, Christina and Jim Davis, Bruce and Jenn Edenfield. Nieces and nephews: Avalon, Ansley, Jamie, Jordan, Maddie, Annabelle, and Lilah.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Gladys Love; and his uncles Chris and Steve Love.
There will be a private service with family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance or Fight CRC. A memorial website has been established for condolences at everloved.com/life-of/jonathan-love/
