Joyce E. Poole

October 7, 1951 ~ July 27, 2023

Ms. Joyce Poole was born in Atlanta, Georgia on October 7, 1951, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Florence (Bertha Lee) Warner. She was the fifth oldest of eight children.Ms. Joyce Elaine Poole married Mr. Willie Lee Poole and to that union God blessed them with lovely daughters. “Bet”, is what she was affectionately called by her family, but by others, she was known as “Mama Poole, Mama Joyce, Ms. Joyce”, attended Rockdale Elementary and Samuel Howard Archer High School in northwest Atlanta. Upon graduating from S.H. Archer High School, she would enroll into Atlanta Area Technical College where she earned a Nursing Assistant degree. This degree would lead her to a life-long career in the healthcare field, where she would continue to serve others even after retirement. Joyce accepted her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was baptized at a very young age while attending her neighborhood church. She would later become a member of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. As her children became young adults, she followed them and became a member of Visions of Unity Ministries. Upon the closing of its doors, she and her children became members of the Rhema Nation Church, where she supported the ministry gifts of her three daughters. She loved her daughters and adored her grandchildren. Joyce was a GOD-fearing woman, worshipper, and prayer warrior, a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and auntie. She was also an amazing cook and baker. She was known from miles around for her infamous sweets: Five Flavored Pound, Red Velvet, and German Chocolate cakes, cupcakes, and an assortment of cookies and pies. She would later start a business named “Cooking in the Spirit”. Her innate ability to spread love, joy, and peace through her food ministry was phenomenal. She made it a priority to check in or visit family and friends by surprising them with a contagious smile, sweet treat or good meal, and a kind word. Her God-given gift of compassion was not only demonstrated in the relationships she held with her siblings and her children, but it was also evident in her relationships with extended family, church family, and family friends. She was truly loved by everyone who knew her. Later in life, “Bet” would be joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Tyrone Bailey. This union lasted 9 years before the Lord would call Mr. Tyrone Bailey home on March 27, 2023. Joyce took her rest with her Lord and Savior early Thursday morning on July 27, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Florence (Bertha) Warner, and sister Ms. Juanita Warner. She is survived by three loving and devoted daughters: Latrelle McFarlane, Ericia Poole, and Audrey Poole; six granddaughters, Olivia Duncan, Angel Poole, Maya Talton, Joya Pool, Jamie Poole, and Janis Mials; and three grandsons, Raheem McFarlane, Jamique Mials, Ryan McFarlane; four sisters, JoAnn Lewis, Florence Ross, Jean Rolle, Deborah Knott (Stennett); and two brothers, James Warner (Lottie), Brian Keith Warner (Loretta); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. A visitation with friends and family will be held at Southern Cremations and Funerals at Holly Hill Memorial Park on August 5, 2023, from 12:00pm - 1:00pm. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately after at 1:00pm.

Guestbook

  1. Joyce was a vibrant and wonderful person. She was my prayer partner. We had known each other for over twenty years. I’ll always remember her kindness, and the wonderful moments we shared together. Now she’s free (Colossians 2: 13-14).
