McDonough Southern Cremations & Funerals
Julian Richard “Rick” Anderson, Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior in the early morning of July 28, 2021, at the age of 64, receiving compassionate care from Sacred Journey Hospice in
McDonough, GA.
Rick is survived by his wife of 26 years and best friend of 31 years, Marcia Ball Anderson. Also
survived by his mother, Kathleen “Katie” Ruth Anderson (aka Squeeter as nicknamed by Rick)
and siblings Karen Anderson Schulze, and husband Bob, William Donald “Don” Anderson, and
wife Lenore, and Kathleen Anderson Ingram. He will be lovingly remembered by his three
children, Cameron Anderson, Christina Durden, and husband David, and Craig Anderson, and partner Summer, as well as two stepchildren, Stephanie Warmoth, and husband Jason, and Christopher Ball, and partner Ashley. He was the proud grandfather of Tatum, Destyni, Tyler, Kenley, Jonah, Joe Nate, Addison, Jacob, Arya, Bo, Luke, and Charley, as well as five nieces and many cousins. Rick is predeceased by his father, Julian Richard “Dick” Anderson, Sr., his namesake and for whom he worked at the family business for many years.
A new years baby, Rick was born on January 1, 1957, to Dick and Katie Anderson in Atlanta, GA. As their firstborn and the first grandchild to both sets of Grandparents, he brought great
celebration in the new year. Rick graduated from Cedar Grove High School, Dekalb County, in
1975. One little fun fact was Rick proudly setting the weight record for squats for Cedar Grove
as of his graduation date.
Known to his brothers in blue as “JR,” at the age of 40, Rick accomplished his childhood
dream and became a police officer. He served for 23 years with the DeKalb County Police
Department achieving the rank of Sergeant. “JR” was committed to serving others and known
for his patriotism and love of country. “JR” retired from the police force on January 31, 2020.
Rick loved camping, fishing, and all things nature. Some of his final memories would have been enjoying the birds and dogs at his home with Marcia. Over the years, Rick enjoyed riding his motorcycle and scuba diving and had a deep love and appreciation for history. Rick knew how to make other people laugh; he had a big personality and an even bigger laugh. He made friends everywhere he went.
The celebration of life service will be held at The Orchard Church (1950 Highway 81s Loganville) on Wednesday, August 4, at 7 pm with Dr. Wendy Jones officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to DeKalb Fraternal Order of Police at dekalbfop.org.

I have nothing but good memories of Rick growing up. He was always so kind to me. Sending our love to the whole family. Tim & Priscilla Jacks
