Katelyn Camile Hancock

Katelyn Camile Hancock, age 33, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022, in Atlanta GA after an extended illness.  Katelyn grew up in Birmingham, AL, and graduated from Vestavia Hills High School in 2006. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts - Art Studio, with a Distinction in Leadership Studies (Summa Cum Laude) from Birmingham-Southern College in 2010, then a Master of Arts - Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies from Ohio State University in 2014. She also received a Master of Arts - Asian American Studies from University of California Los Angeles in 2018. Katelyn last worked as a Lecturer at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles CA. She was preceded in death by her Mother Linda Taylor Hancock of Birmingham, AL. She is survived by her father James Alan Hancock of Birmingham, AL; her brother William Clifton Hancock (Mitchell Adams) of Atlanta, GA; her brother Kevin Coleman Hancock (Jessica Hancock); & nephews Jackson and Benjamin…all of Asheville, NC; and her Aunt Barbara Taylor Deason (Mitch Deason) of Birmingham, AL.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Birmingham, AL at a future date to be determined.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Katelyn’s name to the American Cancer Society https://www.cancer.org/ or First United Methodist Church - Birmingham https://www.firstchurchbhm.com
