Marietta Southern Funerals & Cremations
On July 21st, 2023, Kurt Steven Miller, 48, of Cartersville, GA, passed away peacefully at the Tranquility Hospice in Kennesaw, with his devoted wife Candace (nee Hall) at his side. Early that morning, the clouds lifted, and the Angels ushered him to heaven.
Kurt had been bravely fighting the impact of a serious Cardiac Arrest since July 2nd.
Kurt was born at Kennestone Hospital, Marietta on July 28th, 1974, to his beloved parents Mark Douglas Miller & Teresa (nee Brookshire). Kurt traveled abroad with his Dad, a proud USAAF Chief Master Sergeant of 24 years’ service, who predeceased Kurt in 2016. Kurt has lived in multiple locations including Germany, Nebraska, & Georgia.
Kurt was also predeceased by his first wife, Deonna Cherie (nee Clark) who died in 2007. Their two sons Marcus (born 2004) and Shaun (born 2005) now survive both their parents.
Kurt married the love of his life, Candace on June 16th, 2018, on Driftwood Beach, Jekyll Island, having “eloped” there after nearly 5 years being a couple. They married just after they moved into their first house together, having previously lived in Acworth.
Kurt had a variety of jobs over the years, but latterly was working at Buske in Cartersville, together with his wife Candace. He really enjoyed being able to share work breaks with her, as well as their days off together.
Kurt was a loving husband to Candace, a devoted son to both his mother Teresa and his stepdad Jack Lovvorn, and a great father to his sons Marcus and Shaun.
As well as being a friend to many, Kurt was known for his sense of fun, his humor, and for working (and playing) hard.
In the past few years, he became a doting livestock “farmer” together with Candace, keeping multiple chickens in the back yard of their Cartersville home.
Kurt loved listening to rock music and singing along to the 70’s & 80’s classics, with The Rolling Stones always being a firm favorite.
Kurt was at his happiest being on or by Lake Allatoona, from boyhood right through to this summer. He was probably never happier than floating on the lake with a can of beer in his hand and Candace nearby.
If I should go before the rest of youBreak not a flower nor inscribe a stoneNor when I’m gone speak in a Sunday voiceBut be the usual selves that I have knownWeep if you mustParting is hellBut life goes onSo sing as well.
There will be a celebration of life for Kurt at The American Legion, 4220 S Main St, Acworth from 6pm on Friday 28th July. There will be snack food provided and there will be a Bar (which will be manned by the American Legion). Please RSVP to Teresa/Jack or Candace for planning & very much appreciated.

Please accept our deepest condolences, and know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
In such a sorrowful period, the memory of Kurt’s endearing nature offers significant solace. His gentleness and amicable demeanor truly bloomed; his affinity for humor and thoughtfulness were evident in every interaction. The camaraderie that enveloped him, Jason, and myself during our times on Wagon Wheel Drive in Acworth was unmatched. Filled with cookouts and robust rock N roll music, those days glisten in my mind like diamonds. Today as he soars highest amongst the angels, we honor a heart as expansive as the skies above us. His absence leaves an indelible void but his memories shall always fill it abundantly.
I am saddened to hear of Kurt´s passing. My sincere sympathy to his family Marcus, Shaun, Candace, Teresa and Jack. Rest in peace Kurt. You will be missed!
