Lee R. Thompson

April 30, 1941 ~ July 26, 2025

Lee R. Thompson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and missionary, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on April 30, 1941, in Paris, Idaho, Lee’s life was guided by his deep faith, adventurous spirit, and love for people. A devoted believer, Lee dedicated many years of his life to missionary work, sharing hope and compassion with communities both locally and abroad. His faith led him across continents, and he served with courage and humility in Vietnam during wartime, offering spiritual support and comfort in times of conflict. After his service, Lee continued his calling, always open to wherever he felt called to serve. Known by all as a people person, Lee had an extraordinary ability to connect with others. He welcomed strangers like friends and made lasting impressions with his warmth, generosity, and kindness. Even in the simplest conversations, his genuine interest in others made everyone feel valued. Away from his spiritual ministry, Lee found joy in the ocean. He was an enthusiastic surfer who cherished the serenity of the sea and the thrill of the waves. Surfing brought him peace and a sense of connection to creation, reflecting his lifelong wonder at the beauty of the world. Lee was the devoted widower of his beloved wife, Vivian Charlene Thompson, with whom he shared many cherished years. He is survived by their three children, Stephanie Patton, Cynthia Lee Bishop, Charles Anthony Thompson and their families, along with grandchildren, extended relatives, and a wide network of friends whose lives he enriched. His legacy is one of faith, dedication, and love embodied in his service to others, his adventurous spirit, and the deep bonds he formed in life. Lee’s life was a testament to devotion, Devotion to God, to family, and to humanity. He leaves behind a world made kinder by his presence and more hopeful by his example. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
