Mrs. Lynn Ann Worden Cox passed away peacefully at 9:04 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025, at the age of 74. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 13, 1951.
She was predeceased by her father, Lloyd Wilson Worden, and her mother, Jacqueline Marie Worden; her brothers, Lloyd Christopher Worden and James Michael Worden; and James’s wife, Vickie Worden.
Lynn is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Kenneth Warren Cox. She is lovingly remembered by her three sons: Michael (Chrissy), Derek, and Lee (Tiffani); her five grandchildren: Kylie, Kollin, Evangeline, Blake, and Amzi; her sister, Mary Jo (Robert); her sister-in-law, Kathy; and a large extended family, including nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends from her time in Georgia, as well as childhood friends from Southfield, Michigan.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend who lived a life centered on care and compassion. In nursing, she worked in Pediatrics, ICU, and Emergency departments, providing skilled and heartfelt care to countless patients. She also served in home health care, supporting individuals in their most vulnerable moments with empathy and dedication.
Her desire to help others extended beyond healthcare. She taught in public schools and worked with special needs children, always striving to uplift and encourage those who needed extra support. No matter the setting, her presence made people feel seen, safe, and loved.
At home, she was even more devoted—an attentive and loving homemaker who poured her heart into caring for her family and creating a warm, welcoming space for all who entered. She cared for her own parents with deep love and dignity until their passing and found her greatest joy in spending time with family—especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
She had a special connection to the ocean, the beach, and especially dolphins. A certified scuba diver, she found both peace and adventure in the water. Her sense of service extended into the community as well, through volunteer work in kitchens, nursing homes, and the Special Olympics.
Even in her final days, when she found herself needing care, she met the moment with grace—still loving, still giving, and still showing concern for those around her. Her legacy is one of deep and unconditional love, quiet strength, gratitude, and a lifetime spent putting others first.

My forever guardian Angel! ❤️
So many memories of “Ms. Lynn” and the rest of the Cox family… many years of weekends at the lake. Camping, fishing, skiing, campfires, and lots of laughter. Beach vacations, spend the nights, cookouts, and everything else in between. The Cox family is a part of our family. Lynn will be greatly missed. Our hearts are broken. Prayers for the entire family. May she rest in peace….
Ms. Lynn was definitely the funnest friend of my parents! I was always so excited when they said we are going over to Ken and Lynn’s house! And even more excited when we went camping with them or on vacation to the beach. At the beach she and I were picking up these jelly looking things that were all over the beach and throwing them at each other 😂, I can now only assume that they were dead jellyfish! The one thing I remember most about her is her voice. It didn’t matter how many people were talking or how far away I was from everyone I could always hear her voice over everyone else’s; not because she was loud but because it was so distinct and unique, and I can still hear it in my head now along with her laugh!
I didn’t know her that well ..when I did see her back in our school days she was always smiling..may she rest in heavenly peace
I am so sorry to hear of Lynn’s passing, she was one of my favorite co-workers at Amedisys. She made work fun and positive. She is someone who will leave a lasting impression in my life. Rest in Peace sweet lady.
