Marcelino "Marcy" Fernandez

June 2, 1937 ~ December 28, 2021

Marcelino "Marcy" Fernandez was born on the 2nd day of June 1937 to Ramiro A. Fernandez and Faustina (Tapia) Fernandez in El Paso, Texas. The growing family eventually relocated to Los Angeles, California. He Graduated in 1954 from Compton High School (now College) in Compton, California. He also completed courses at Broward Community College in Coconut Creek, Florida. He served in the Army in the 1950's and received an Honorable Discharge. He was extremely proud of his service and was a member of the Marietta Chapter of the American Legion. In his early years, he held many jobs but eventually found himself excelling as an Automotive Painter, which started a successful career in the automotive paint industry. He expanded his knowledge and experience as a Technical Rep., then a World Technical Rep., a Sales Rep, various management positions, and finally operating his own business as a Manufacturers’ Representative. He had a strong work ethic and would tackle all tasks with confidence and provided a nice home and lifestyle for his family. Friends, family and associates always knew they could count on his help and expertise when called upon in times of need. His work required he travel all over the world to locations such as Japan, Great Britain, Spain, China, South Africa, the Caribbean, and Middle and South America. He developed an appreciation for the cuisine of these places and would encourage the family to sample some of the food and drink he returned with from his trips abroad. His career resulted in relocating the family from California to Puerto Rico, Florida and eventually Georgia, where most still reside. He enjoyed many recreational activities like hunting, camping, and boating. He also loved participating in many indoor activities like bowling, billiards and domino's, which were among his favorites. He relished any chance to gather with family and friends. There was even a time period when he was able to coach little league baseball. His greatest role was that of Husband, Father and "Papa" to the Grandchildren. His wife, Andrea, was by his bedside as he passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, December 28th, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Andrea, and five sons, Marcelino Jr., David, Robert, James and wife Jeanne (Ellgass), and Anthony and wife Meredith (Craven). His grandchildren are Joseph and Marisa Ortiz, Evette, James and Kiara (Mora), Daniel, Michael and Katie (Nipp), Luis Hernandez, Roland Anthony and Petra Marie. His great grandchildren are Emerson, Grayson and Tegan Ortiz. He is also survived by his siblings, Alicia Anderson, Angelina Rodriguez, Richard J Fernandez and Rose M Frye. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ramiro and Faustina, and brothers, Ramiro and Ralph. Visitation will be Saturday January 8th at 2:00pm followed immediately by a memorial service at 3:00pm with a brief reception after at Southern Cremations and Funerals at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park. The family is grateful for the prayers and condolences.
