Marcia Delores Roach

August 16, 1951 ~ September 2, 2022

Marcia Delores Bostic, beloved mother, sister, aunt and great-aunt, peacefully passed away on September 2, 2022. Marcie, as she was fondly called by family and close friends, was 71-years-old. Marcia was born on August 16, 1951, in the Belfield Land neighborhood of St. Michaels, Barbados, where she grew up with her parents, Percival and Gwendolyn Bostic (both deceased), and her siblings until the entire family emigrated to the United States in May 1970. While in Barbados, Marcie attended Westbury Primary School, and the Lynch Middle School. She also attended the Modern High School, with her eldest brother, Stewart Bostic (deceased). When the family moved to Ardmore, Pennsylvania, Marcie entered Lower Merion High School as a Senior and graduated in 1971. Marcie was a very studious and intelligent young woman. After graduation, she became one of the first Blacks to be accepted into and graduate from Bryn Mawr Hospital Respiratory Therapy Program. She then worked as a certified inhalation therapist at the hospital. However, she became disillusioned with the medical field and entered the insurance industry, employed first by INA and later Cigna Insurance Company. In 1978, Marcie married Bertram Snead and gave birth to her beloved daughter Kelli Snead, her only child. She and Bert later divorced, and Marcie raised Kelli on her own. Kelli was Marcie’s pride and joy, and she always put her daughter first. Marcie repatriated to Barbados with Kelli in 2008, where the two lived together for many years before returning to the United States. In 2020, due to failing health, Marcie became a resident at Sandy Springs Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Sandy Springs, Georgia.Marcie was an outgoing and fun-loving individual, but a person who cared dearly about her family and friends. Marcie was the only child of her parents who inherited her father’s melodious voice, and she loved to sing and dance. She was a people person and enjoyed a good party with family and friends. From an early age, Marcie was a voracious reader of all types of books and spent much time reading the Bible, particularly in her older years. She also stayed abreast of world politics and current affairs, often leading to many enthusiastic debates with likeminded friends and acquaintances. She was a good storyteller and would share many stories of growing up in Barbados at family gatherings. In sum, Marcie lived life to the fullest.Marcie leaves behind her daughter, Kelli Snead; three grandchildren, Gabrielle, Christian, and August; sisters, Minerva Agard and brother-in-law Peter, Luceta Coleman and brother-in-law Kevin, brother Edson Bostic and sister-in-law Carolyn; and sister(niece) Donna Thomas, nieces Juliet Coleman, Cassandra Chretien, Corrine Teel, Michelle Gregory and Kyra Bostic; and nephews Akil Bowler, Michael Bostic, Crawford Russell, and Jordan Coleman. She also leaves behind sister-in-law Rita Bostic; four great-nieces and two great-nephews, their children, as well as other family members and friends.

Our fondest memories are of the happy years growing up with Marcia in Ardmore, PA. Our hearts are full and we will never forget you Marcia. RIP dear.

  2. I can still remember Marcia’s laugh. It was such a full, melodic laugh that looked just perfect on her smiling face. She knew how to make everyone feel welcomed. I have so many memories of Marcia making me smile and laugh. She had a wonderful, joyous personality and was so easy to talk with. Generosity and warmth are perhaps how I would sum up Marcia. Marcia, I regret that I won’t be able to see you again on this earth. May God bless your family at this time. Love, Joyce ( JP ) Solomon

I was blessed to know my cousin Marcia from childhood. She was always a kind hearted person. It was always nice to spend time with her, her siblings, our grandmother and my mother. My mother was her aunt. After they all moved to the United States, it was always nice to see Marcia and her siblings when they were on vacation in Barbados. When we all became adults, family gathering were always fun & filled with lots of laughter. She will be greatly missed. Rest in peace. From: Annette Bostic Cumberbatch
