  7. As a young black male, we sometimes grow up with authority issue. Some of us don’t have positive male figures we can tangibly associate ourselves with, which causes a disconnect between the generations. Jahmal (JD as I call him) provided a bridge in my life in that regard. When I met Jahmal he had a calm, smooth and well put together demeanor and I can honestly say I never saw him in any other light. He was someone that saw the light and potential within me from the very beginning. It seemed like every interaction we had he was giving me some type of game or pushing me to continue chasing my dreams. He was an easy guy to like and respect I’ll tell you that much. The memories I will cherish most are the cookouts (He use to get down on that grill) and Falcons games at the house, as well as our 21’ Christmas trip to Florida. His presence will live with me forerver and I am honored to have known such a genuine soul on this Earth.

  8. JD! The GOAT!
I had the privilege of becoming one of his “honorary kids” via my childhood Bestfriend, Jasmine. I can honestly say, JD was the calmest, most humble, insightful man I’ve ever met. I met him my senior year of high school in 2011 and he immediately treated me like family. He gave the best hugs and always entertained my jokes even when Ms Kim would be like “shut up Kazz!” (If you know, you know). But JD always gave sound advice, never judged, had the kindest heart and he LOVEDDDD everyone (especially Momma Kim)! Heaven really gained a GEM! May you continue to Rest in Paradise, job Well Done! ❤️

  9. JD,

My brother the gentle giant. I am so, so very thankful for every single moment in time that we have laughed, cried and prayed. I will always cherish this last trip to Florida a couple of months ago; where you told me you were proud of me for stepping out and moving to Florida. You and I sat taking pictures on the pier and chatting was magical. I am yet thankful to have hugged you and told you that I loved you that I appreciated you taking care of my sister.

Watch over us lil brother and continue to guide us on this side of the journey. You definitely earned your wings. And I know God has crowned you with fanfare saying “job well done my good and faithful servant”.

    Love Ronnie

  26. Q: What will you never forget about Marvin?

A: I will never forget the love my uncle jd had for everyone . Uncle jd was one of a kind . When my spirits were low he picked me up with some words & tell me “KEEP THE DRIVE”. I will never forget how my uncle loved my auntie Kim to the extreme . He loved my cousins and me to the extreme . I thank you uncle jd so much . I will never forget all the church pictures . The hugs before and after . The prayer and the pep talk before and after . Ima miss you uncle uncle jd . You’re in my heart and the family hearts forever I love you .

  27. I am honored to know that I was the first Beavers (relative) to meet JD when Kim introduced us (as she recently reminded me of this occasion). And if it is true that your first impressions should be your best – well I assumed I had the pleasure of meeting this young king at his best. Unbeknownst to me, it was not an impression at all! JD had a very unique way in which he approached relationships meaning he was astute at understanding people. He navigated his way into your heart while touching one’s soul, spirit and mind! A true gift from above to be one of a kind!! His kindred spirit never met a stranger as he uplifted those around him. And he helped all in need in any way that he could without hesitation, reservation or trepidation while sparing no expense. JD maneuvered through life with a keen since of purpose – like a guardian angle doing God’s work. Therefore in hindsight, it wasn’t me at all having any real impact on Kim’s and DJ’s union as I slowly begin to realize that I was chosen to be in his presence while witnessing real life examples of this young Kings’ mission and ordained work.
JD leaves us all with an indelible mark in all of our hearts. I am enlightened in many ways from our experiences, but ultimately now with an understanding of the essence of our being & existence, and that is to ensure we all have a positive, impactful & meaningful life in the spirit of God as we journey home to rest in peace!

Gone too soon JD but you will never be forgotten! Rest in peace King.
    Uncle Tony! #9
