Matt Grant passed away suddenly at the young age of 64, on September 20th, 2024, soon after the conclusion of his first year of battling cancer.
Matt was born in Chicago on August 27th, 1960. Predeceased by Father Edward Grant and Mother Jacqueline Schroeder. Survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Liliana Nicholls Grant and daughter Samantha Grant. Lovingly remembered by eldest sister Susan Grant and youngest sister Margaret Grant.
After the finalization of his higher education, Matt continued with his entrepreneurial pursuits until his death. Though he never officially pursued some of his interests such as architecture, he became well-versed in the field. As he himself would say, “I must have been an architect in my previous life.” His dedication to his hobbies from biking, golfing, cooking and extensive self-taught knowledge in various fields, fueled his family and friends with endless ideas and solutions, making him a valuable teacher and well-respected man.
Matt was a wonderful husband and upon the birth of his daughter, proved to be the most dedicated, loving and attentive father. Despite his stoic nature, those that knew him best knew that he had a soft, playful side and one that will be dearly missed.
Matt will forever be a man that deserves to be remembered by all those who knew him and those that didn’t get the opportunity to do so. Though our hearts mourn his loss, we take comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering and is finally at peace.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in the Columbarium at Southern Cremations and Funerals in Marietta, GA, from 2pm-5pm.
As a strong supporter of the military and first responders, in lieu of flowers, please donate and support Tunnel to Towers Foundation and/or plant a tree on Matt’s behalf.

Having hosted us for lunch or dinner a couple times, I think he may also have been a chef. He courageously fought this battle to the end… Rest in peace Matt 🙏

Lily, we are so sorry for your loss. Wishing you strength and peace during this hard time.
Matt was my cousin and my friend. Living nearby throughout our childhood and later as adults, Matt was such a sweet, caring person. He was so incredibly kindhearted to all he had in his life and others who he knew him briefly. He always gave of his time and knowledge of computers, cooking, design and just being a good listener. We will miss you! Love to all, Matt, Lilli & Sami! Joe & Nancy Summa
