November 22, 1938 ~ February 19, 2025

Mrs. Mattie Marie Foreman Duke was born November 22, 1938 in Lapile, Arkansas, daughter of the late Mattie Sumler and Harvey Foreman. On February 19, 2025, she completed her earthly mission, received her Crown of Glory, and is sitting at the feet of Jesus Christ. She accepted Jesus Christ into her life at an early age and as an ordained minister, worked extensively to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ beside her husband. She was an active member of the Pilgrim Baptist Church. Mrs. Mattie attended Shorter College where she played on a full athletic scholarship and achieved All American Status. She met the love of her life, Rev. Dr. Kenneth P. Duke in California and they were married on September 17, 1960 in Santa Barbara. Mrs. Mattie or Mrs. Marie as she was sometimes called, loved to cook and could sometimes be found canning produce from her garden. If she wasn't listening to gospel music, you knew she was watching one of her favorite sports, basketball or football. She enjoyed watching the Golden State Warriors. Fishing was also a favorite pastime, which she shared with her children. Mrs. Mattie Marie Foreman Duke leaves to cherish her precious memories, three sons, Kenneth Duke Jr. (Antoinette) of Kansas City, Missouri, Rev. Derrick Duke (Nadine) of Locust Grove, Georgia, and Marcus Duke of Kennesaw, Georgia. She leaves her grandchildren, Dechino Duke (Amethyst), Kenneth Duke III, Natalie Duke, and Elijah Duke (Kaylie). She leaves two great-grandsons, Jaden Duke and Justice Duke. She also leaves behind Delois Stallworth-Spratlin, whom she also called daughter and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
