Melbon Jackson

Melbon Jackson, affectionately known as Melba or Mae, was born in Brooksville, MS, the second of nine children born to the late Bessie Jackson, on February 13, 1954. She surrendered her earthly life to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 23, 2023.A graduate of Noxubee County High School, Melbon was a proud member of the class of 1972, and became an alumna of Mary Holmes College in 1974. In 1976, Melbon moved to Cleveland, OH where she pursued a career in cosmetology, earning her license as a Master Cosmetologist. A talented hairstylist, she practiced what she loved and serviced generations of loyal and happy clients for more than 40 years, retiring in 2019. Throughout her life’s journey, Melbon met amazing friends who she was endeared to, and who were endeared to her.Melbon was a creative soul who enjoyed sewing and baking. As a member of The Elegant Ladies, she and a small group of friends sewed multiple outfits, recruited models, and hosted fashion shows that showcased their creations. Her baked goods were the highlight of every gathering and were eagerly sought after by friends and family, especially around the fall and winter holidays. Melbon also enjoyed traveling and challenging her mind with reading, games, and solving puzzles.Dedicated to her faith, Melbon spent the majority of her years worshiping at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Cleveland, OH, where amongst other committees, she served as an usher and on the Scholarship Committee. She was also a member of the adult ministry, Faith and Fellowship in Christ (FFIC). At Live Oak Church in Hinesville, GA, she volunteered with the Joseph House ministry. Dedicated to her community, Melbon held executive board positions with the Cleveland, OH and national chapters of the Maconites Scholarship Club, Inc., and served as a volunteer with the Maconite Manna Mission in Brooksville, MS.Melbon leaves to cherish her memory a daughter: Tamiko Jackson; brothers: Danny (Queen) Jackson, David (Lisa) Jackson, Stacy Jackson; sisters: Juanita (Charles) Johnson, and Evelyn (Bob) Jackson, a sister-in-law, Lois (Wayne) Jackson, and a host of nieces and nephews, many of whom she cared for as her own, and extended family via the William Sr., and late Louise Oliver family of Cleveland, OH.
