Michael Patrick Fitzgerald “Fitz”, born in Thief River Falls, MN on January 20th, 1954, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep from Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease on the 17th of May 2022 while visiting the great state of Georgia. After graduating from Minnesota State with a BA in Marketing & Business Administration, Michael spent most of his global career as a procurement executive in the Oil and Gas Industry. He was a hardworking leader with a heart of gold and the soul of a warrior. He carried many responsibilities on his shoulders, but always found a way to get things done. Mike had recently moved from Chicago and retired to Sarasota, FL to live out his years in the city which gave him pure pleasure due to his love of warm weather and beautiful sunsets. Mike was well-known by all as a fun-loving, hard-working, dedicated father. But most importantly - Michael always had an incredible love for his children and a remarkable pride in their pursuits. Preceded by his parents Robert and Beverly “Betty” Fitzgerald and survived by his daughters Penny Lynn Fitzgerald (spouse John Fischer), Alysia Marie Fitzgerald (spouse Tracey Haag-Fitzgerald), Morgan Alexandra Fitzgerald (partner Rata Chapman Olsen), son Liam Michael Patrick Fitzgerald (partner Emma Guthrie), brothers John, Curtis, Bob (spouse Diane Kempenich), sister Donna (spouse Rodney Barron); and several step-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and their families. Michael’s private family viewing and cremation was held at Southern Cremations & Funerals | Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta GA. The Celebration of Life will be held at Whitaker Gateway Park1455 N Tamiami Trail Sarasota FL 34236 on Saturday, July 30th at 4:30PM Please join us to share your favorite memory, photo, or funny story over refreshments followed by a memorial service honoring a father, brother, uncle, and friend that will truly be missed.
