Mr. Allen Rodney Ferguson

April 3, 1936 ~ November 19, 2023

Allen Rodney Ferguson, known to all as Rodney, was born on April 3, 1936, to the parents of Mr. John A. Smith and Lillian Stewart Smith and passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2023 A skilled welder by trade, Rodney was employed with Square D Company, his entire career and he could practically fix anything! Several hobbies he had, however one of his all-time favorites was collecting clocks and tinkering in his garage. As a lifelong Christian, Rodney served the Lord faithfully and would share his love of Jesus with everyone he met. The spirit of servitude remained within Rodney’s heart, and he proudly served his country, serving in the capacity of Private First Class E3 during 1959-1961. Allen Rodney Ferguson was extremely proud of his military service! Most importantly was his love of family, especially his loving wife of 64 years, his beloved Laverne. On Sunday, November 19, 2023; Rodney closed his eye to this world, to wake up in eternity. He is preceded in death by his parents; John and Lillian Smith, one daughter; Kristi Nicole, two sister Elona Smith and Lillian Buck & two brother; Ardell Smith & Larry Dale Smith. He leaves to cherish and honor his memories through his loving and supportive wife of 64 years, Laverne Ferguson, Jackson, Georgia. One son; Brian (Tina) Ferguson, Hogansville, Georgia and One daughter; Kim (Bryan) Yurkanin, Drums, Pennsylvania. Two brothers; Robert Smith; Hosford, Florida & Leo (Joyce) Smith; Abilene, Texas. Four Sisters; Bette Aanderud; Kelso, Washington, Lorraine Smith-Tweet; Eugene, Oregon, Judith Linn; Longview, Washington and Linda Townsend; Washington State. Three Grandchildren; Chris & wife Marissa; Cary, North Carolina,Dakota Vaughn; Jackson, Georgia and Kyle Ferguson; Newnan, Georgia. He is also survived by Six great-grandchildren: Eva, Kynslee, Lyla, Madilyn, Paxton & Eliana and a host of nieces and nephews. The staff of Southern Cremations & Funerals are honored to serve the family of Mr. Allen R. Ferguson. We ask that you continue to keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
