Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Norma Eugenie Samuel was born on January 21, 1941 to the late Carlton Samuel and Gertrude Phillips. Affectionately known as “Mother Cabey,” she was born on the beautiful Island of St. Johns, Antigua, “where land and sea make beauty.” She attended Antigua Girls High School, after which she furthered her education and became a Certified Nursing Assistant / Home Health Nurse.
Norma worked at Miami-Dade General Hospital (Food Service Dept.), East Ridge Retirement Village, and Gramacy Park Retirement Home as a Nursing Assistant / Home Health Nurse. After many years of hard work, her health began to fail and she retired in 1992.
Norma met the love of her life, Thomas Alfred Cabey, who preceded her in death on March 8, 2014. They wed in Holy Matrimony on December 20, 1962 (51 years). To this lovely union, 10 children were born. One son preceded her in death. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister. Norma was an excellent cook and baker who enjoyed giving and helping others. She was one special “Angel” with an unconditional love. Norma lived a life surrounded by strong faith and prayer. She believed that faith was the key to unlock any door.
Norma accepted the Lord as her personal savior in the 50s, under the leadership of Pastor Henry. She was one of the intercessors. After moving to St. Croix Virgin Islands, she joined First Assemblies of God Church under the leadership of Pastor Randolph Owen Lockhart (preceded her in death). She was a faithful, hard worker for many years. She was willing to help in many auxiliaries. In 1978, she relocated to Miami, Florida where she attended Faith Restoration Revival Center under the leadership of Evangelist L. S. Phillip. She served faithfully until the closing of the church. She became the overseer for Maranatha Ministries for a few years while the late Pastor Harris traveled. She was a strong inspiration for the youth. She loved, guided, and nurtured many of them. Norma joined Ebenezer Assemblies of God where she served as Deaconess, Trustee Member, Intercessor, Devotional Leader, and Women’s President. She served under the leadership of the late Bishop T. Edward Greer, Sr., until the Bishop’s retirement. She continued to serve, under Pastor Ted Greer, Jr., until the family relocated.

I could never express the legacy that my Sister Cabey left behind for my family. I can say with absolute 100% certainty that my brother and myself are alive because of her intercession.
