On January 18, 2023, Norred “Avary” Weldon of Rockmart, Georgia joined our Heavenly Father at the age of 94. He was born and raised in Manchester, Georgia.
At the age of 16 he graduated high school and moved to Atlanta where he achieved his Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy. He later became the proud owner of Hays and Weldon Pharmacy in Southwest Atlanta. After serving his community as a pharmacist for 50 years, he concluded his career at Rite Aid in Rockmart, Georgia and retired at the age of 70.
Throughout his life, he also served as a Yaarab Shriner and a Mason beginning in 1964. He achieved his 33rd degree status as a Mason in 1999. He was a member of the following lodges: East Point No. 28 serving as Worshipful Master 1974 and 1993, Wm. G. England DL No. 747, Rockmart No. 97 serving as Worshipful Master in 1974, Mt. Zion No. 016, Jason Burr No.013, Western No. 029, Coeur de Lion No.004. He also served in a state position as Grand Tyler from 2021-2022.
Avary and his wife Louise were also members of Rockmart First United Methodist Church, having joined in 1992. Over the years Avary spent countless hours volunteering. His favorite times were volunteering for the Preschool, playing Santa, and being a greeter for those attending Church service. Everyone who knew him knew his big heart and giving nature. He loved spending time with family and friends. He will truly be missed.
Avary was preceded in death by his loving wife Louise Paige Weldon, his oldest daughter Sheila Weldon Wike, and his granddaughters Jessica Lynn Sale and Natalie Elizabeth Sale.
He is survived by his brother Alfred Weldon, youngest daughter Pamela Weldon Sale, Son-in-law Bobby Wike, Grandchildren Matthew Wike (Wife Jenna Wike), Sarah Wike Hargett (Husband Barry Hargett), Rachel Sale Luistro (Husband Ryan Luistro), and great-grandchildren Madison Wike, Landon Wike, Lynnlee Mathis, Chloe Mote, Emma Wike (Matt’s children), Aidan Hargett, Jackson Hargett (Sarah’s children), Brantley Fulbright, Hudson Fulbright, and Jenson Luistro (Rachel’s children).
