Ofelia Dunham

August 9, 1965 ~ February 16, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ofelia Virrueta Dunham or “Coco” as her grandchildren called her. She was called home to the lord on Friday February 16th, 2024, at the age of 58. Born in Mexico on August 9th, 1965, she was one of many siblings born to Maria Elena Cortez and Rodrigo Virrueta. She is survived by her four children Sean, Kelsey, Patrick, and Kurt and her two grandchildren Julian and Isabella. Ofelia Dunham will be remembered as an amazing mother. One who was playful and loving and kind. An amazing gardener and a lover of flowers. Someone who loved to dance and be silly and loved her children and grandchildren more than anything. A woman who loved to cook and bake and felt food could cure any ailment. She was most at peace outdoors in the sunshine or in the garden or reading her bible. She will be missed dearly. 2 Corinthians 5:1“For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” A service of remembrance will be held at Southern Cremations and Funerals on March 8th, 2024, from 2pm to 5pm at 1861 Dallas Highway, Marietta, GA 30064. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. We ask that those that wish to speak or share a story contact the family in advance.

  1. Ofelia was dear sweet friend to me we shared some good times together. One of favorite things was sitting by the river and feeding the geese and squirrels and just talking and walking to the store together. We called her Ollie her Cynthia and I called ourselves the there musketeers. We loved to sit on Cynthia’s patio listening to music and dancing together go shopping and just hanging out I will truly miss her she was honest unselfish kind and a true loving friend. From Carolyn Walker I send you my love for Ofelia

❤️ Wendy

  3. Affectionally, I knew this kind and charming woman as Coco. On the outside she was the picture of a happy-go-lucky, fun- loving person.
She made people laugh! She also loved her grandchildren (Julian and Bella) immensely.
From all I saw she idolized her daughter Kelsey.
I’m sure her sons were in her heart also. It saddened me that she wasn’t here to celebrate and rejoice over two of Kelsey’s major achievements. Yet spiritually she proudly and happily cheered from above.
She also had demons that she fought mightily
and courageously. Powerfully she did all she could to stay in command of her battles. I marveled at
how constant Kelsey’s love and support for her mama was. Coco knew how much she was loved!

  4. As we come upon the sixth month after Cocos passing. We continue to miss her and will keep her spirit alive. Rest In Peace sweet soul
