Paul F. Moran, Jr., 83, of Greenville, GA, and formerly of Bradford, MA, passed away peacefully at his home on November 2, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 5, 1938, he was the son of the late Paul F. Moran, Sr., and Mildred C. (Mullen) Moran. Paul was a graduate of St. James High School, class of 1956, and attended Merrimack College.
Paul’s first love was for his family, and his second was for the game of golf. Earning his PGA card in 1962, he was a proud golfer on the PGA Tour, playing with the likes of Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. One of his many accomplishments was winning the “Triple Crown of New England” - holding three titles simultaneously - including the Massachusetts Open, the New England PGA Championship, and the New England Open. He was the first to accomplish this feat as reported in a 1981 Boston Globe edition. He later played on the Senior PGA Tour. Upon retiring, Paul was a head teaching pro at various golf clubs.
Because of his many accomplishments, Paul was one of the first athletes to be inducted into the Haverhill Sports Hall of Fame in 1982. He made his family and city proud.
Paul is survived by his cherished daughters, Lori Moran of Greenville, GA, Debra Tashie and husband Judd of Franklin, TN, and Terri Katherine Moran of Gainesville, GA; son Michael Moran of Gainesville; Mary (Kaiser) Moran, mother of his children, of Newnan, GA; sisters Kathleen Merchant of Windham, NH, Patricia Nissi of Haverhill, and Mary Cody and husband Daniel of Nashua, NH; fifteen grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his son Mitchell Moran and brother Richard Moran.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Georgia, and a Memorial Mass will be held at St. James Church at a later date. Burial will take place in St. James Cemetery.

Paul was a fantastic golf instructor and wonderful guy . I can still hear his voice when I am playing golf ” the head must move ” . I think I played my best when I could get lessons from him when he taught at the sod farm in NH . i am planning a trip to GA and I was hoping to look him up . Another fond memory of Paul is being on the range with him one day at sunset , and as we took in the beauty of the evening Paul turned to me and said , ” all we need now is a nice whiskey sour ” .
My Dad was good friends with Paul and my dad passed 2 months after him. He had great things to say about this man. I believe he was on the golf course with my Dad when my sister was born and went to the hospital with my Dad. I met him once when I first started playing golf and my dad was bragging about my swing and I hit a few in front of Paul and he said something like…. I can see it Fam. I never amounted to much of a golfer like my old man or Mr. Moran but thought I would share the story
