Pauline Marie Smith

Pauline Marie Smith (née LeRoy), 68, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 28, 2025, while recovering from brain surgery. Born on May 18, 1956, in Panama City, Panama, where her father served in the U.S. Army at the Canal Zone, Pauline’s warmth and unwavering dedication to her family touched all who knew her. Pauline was the beloved wife of Curtis H. Smith, with whom she shared over 35 years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Mark A. Gomez (Acworth, GA) and John A. Gomez (Melbourne, FL), loving mother in-law to Raelyn Davis, and a cherished grandmother to Jacob Seth Gomez (Knoxville, TN), Shelby Marie Gomez (Oak Ridge, TN), Olivia Madison Gomez, and Alayiah Gomez (both of Woodstock, GA). She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Kathleen Smith (Acworth, GA), whom she loved dearly; her sister, Patricia Miller (Jacksonville, FL); her brother, Mark LeRoy (Smyrna, GA); and her sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Frank Castaneira (Charlotte, NC). Pauline was predeceased by her parents, Thomas Arlen LeRoy (2008) and Anna Theresa LeRoy (2021); her maternal grandparents, Marco Aurelio Harris (1973) and Ruth Brown Harris (2001) (Colon, Panama); and her paternal grandmother, Mary E. LeRoy (2007) (Lakeland, Florida). Pauline’s memory will be forever treasured, and she will be deeply missed by all whose lives she enriched. A memorial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marietta, GA, on May 30th, 2025, at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
