Richard Kenneth Jacobs Jr.

November 18, 1957 ~ March 25, 2023

Jacobs, Richard (Rick) Kenneth Jr. of Atlanta, died peacefully at home on March 25, 2023. Rick was born and raised in Dorchester, MA but moved to Atlanta in 1983 where he formed a cherished chosen family including a group of travel industry family and friends. He embraced his Irish heritage as a member of the Irish Historical Society at UMass Boston where he formed many lasting friendships. Rick created his chosen families by opening his heart to all. We just had to embrace it to be a member of such a special unit. Rick was predeceased in January 2004 by the love of his life, Bob Kelleher. They were deeply devoted to each other and enjoyed their life together. It brings some comfort to know they are reunited in eternal peace. In 2006 at a time in Rick’s life that he so needed some comfort and stability, he reconnected with an old friend, Jeffrey Nance who became his rock. Survived by chosen family of Jeffrey Nance, loving brother of Larry Jacobs and his wife Diane Jacobs of Jericho, VT, sister June Jacobs of Massachusetts, cherished Uncle of Emily Jacobs, Ryan Jacobs and his wife Nicole, Gary Thomas, Richard Myers, and great uncle of Ella Jacobs. Several families (blood and chosen) and friends. Predeceased by his loving partner Bob Kelleher, his parents Richard T. and Mary Jacobs (Kane), sister Barbara Watkervitch (Jacobs), and nephew Christopher Myers. A celebration of Rick’s life will be celebrated on May 6, 2023. Details will be posted at a later date. Thank you for all the outpouring of love, care, and sympathy for Rick.

  1. You are and will be missed. Thank you for being part of my life and helping me to become the person I am today.
    Love,
    Jeffrey

  2. I met Rick in the summer of 2020 on zoom call “meet and greet” hosted by our mutual friend, Michelle Scales. I was running for judicial office and he offered his support.

In the several years since then, we would communicate on Facebook about his dogs, Chuck and Blaze, whom he dearly loved. I only had the opportunity to know Rick for a short period of time. However, his beautiful spirit sure made me feel like I had known him for much longer. I will really miss Rick.

  3. I will miss you my friend your laughter your kindness and your unshakable friendship.. Love Always !!
