Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Rudolph Emanuel (Rudy) Hines, passed away on July 24, 2023 in Atlanta, GA after a brief illness.
He was born January 3, 1944 to the late Rudolph and Pearlie (Glenn) Hines, in Columbus, GA.
Rudy entered the Mother Mary Mission School in Phenix City, Atlanta, at the age of four and half, scoring very high on standardized tests.
During his early years, he displayed an exceptional adeptness for assembling airplanes and warships from Revell Model Kits. He would spend hours gluing and painting each part to perfection. This was not an easy task.
Rudy then continued his education after the family relocated to Atlanta, GA. He graduated from Luther Judson Price High school with honors in 1961. He was accepted to join the first class of African- American students to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology. Pursing his lifelong passion for airplanes and ships, he joined the United States Navy instead.
Due to his love for airplanes and ships, Rudy excelled in his classes, becoming an Airborne Electronics Warfare Operator. He was part of a three-man crew executing recon missions over Cuba (during the 1962 Missile Crisis), Vietnam and other Asia-Pacific countries gathering intelligence.
After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Rudy worked for several major companies as an IT Technician including Bell and Howell and The Westinghouse Corp.
Rudy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Tena (Lunsford) Hines and Eldridge and Lucille (Stinson) Glenn.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Lynn (Eddie) Jackson and Gail Hines of Atlanta; twin brothers Carl T. and Curtis T. Hines of Jacksonville, FL.; and a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and cousins.
