  2. It is with a heavy heart that I write this because I will miss my friend, Rupert. I came to know Rupert several months ago and our fellowship turned out to be a special friendship. My wife has a garden on the property that adjoined Rupert’s property. Over the years, my wife and son came to know Rupert well. I did not have the pleasure of knowing him until several months ago because my work kept me from home a lot. My wife and I visited with Rupert when he became bed ridden and it was during that visit that I realized what a special person Rupert was. It was from that visit on that Rupert and I became very good friends. We would talk in depth about life, family and work. I learned that he was generally a quiet man with a very private nature but when he opened up you understood his compassion for the under privileged and those who were handicapped with vision challenges. We laughed, cried and prayed together and I am blessed to have known Rupert. We have lost an extraordinary man but I know that he is in a better place. I send my sincere condolences to his family and friends…….. Don Stevens

  3. Our sympathies to the family of (Ruddy) Rupert Simms A gentle Soul, May his Soul rest in peace. From Trevor & Sonia

  4. Uncle Ruddy, You were extremely supportive loving and kind. My time with you was always met with laughter and you filled the atmosphere with warmth and love. I will always remember how kind you were and how amazing it was that you could drive from Atlanta to Canada and back again like it was next door. You and my daughter Safiyah share the same birthday and to me, that’s extra special. Though my heart is heavy knowing that I can no longer see you in the flesh, I know that you are resting in the arms of God and have reunited with many loved ones. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the memories. I love you always and forever. Your niece: Tami xoxo 🕊 🙏🏾💙

  5. Dearest Uncle… The memories I will forever cherish will allow you to be ever present in our lives. Christmases where we so looked forward to hearing that special laugh fill the house. May your laugh Continue Uncle and fill the hallways of your new home. Rest In God’s Eternal Peace. Krissy 🙏🏾

  6. Uncle Ruddy, There are so many memories. From my first trip to Disney at the age of 5 to you still wanting to make sure you took me out somewhere, anywhere when i visited Atlanta. I looked forward to seeing you every Christmas. You never disappointed. Taking on the road to drive those many hours by yourself to be in Canada with us. This was Priceless. One thing is for sure, no one could dance with you like I did. Ha! 🤣🤣 I have the video to show. Uncle Ruddy you are greatly missed. I hope you’re dancing up there in heaven. Give my grandma and my uncle Carl a hug for me. You have left us on this side but you have joined them and I have comfort in knowing that the spirit never dies. Until we meet again. Your niece Tenesha 🕊🙏🏾💙

  7. I remember telling Grandpa, “Jesus loves you!” and would always encourage him in the Lord. We loved Rupert very much and I shared his love for education which he instilled in his grandson. He enjoyed driving down to visit us on holidays and always told me he admired how well I raised Nathaniel. He was so proud of his grandson’s accomplishments in school, volunteering and basketball. We will cherish these memories of him and know he is now in heaven with Sis Velma.

  8. Grandfather where do I begin, we cherished so many good memories. When I was little I always remembered hearing my grandfather is coming down to watch my basketball games and was so excited. I’ll never forget one time when I was dribbling the ball and looked up into the stands, I heard Grandpa shout “Good job grandson!” I was so happy to see him there, after my game we went shopping and spent the rest of our day together. I was too young to realize it but as I got older and did the math it took Grandpa 14 hours to reach Toronto to watch my game and I extremely appreciated Grandpa for that. Another memory I have is remembering the conversations about being a better man and the importance of education. Grandpa was a man of education, he always told me to strive to the top and never look down. He also told me that A goes to A and B goes to B and C goes to C meaning, If you live good in this life things will fit into place for you. Thank you Grandpa for all the love you gave me. Rest in glory!

  10. This is my 3rd attempt at Commenting… And it keeps disappearing. Let’s try again Dearest Uncle… I will forever have the fondest memories of my visits to Atlanta where you always had something you just had to show me at the shop. Or your annual visits for Christmas, and even the surprise pop ups through the year. With that infectious laugh that filled our home, I pray your laugh fills the hallways of your new home. Rest Well Uncle. Krissy 🙏🏾

  11. My sincere condolences to Rupert’s family and friends. I was saddened to learn of his passing. My late husband (CB Wright) and I have known him since the late 1980s. May he rest in eternal peace and May the memories he shared with his family and friends remain in their hearts forever.

  12. I have so many amazing memories with Uncle Ruddy as he was so close to my mother Doreen. He would come to see us many times per year especially at Christmas. Our many fun trips to Atlanta and driving around with him to see his many friends here in Toronto when he came to visit. All I can say is the ladies loved him & I reaped the rewards. My funniest memory was when I found out his real name was actually, Rupert and I kept calling him that. He jokingly put me out the car on a shopping trip in the city until I stopped calling him by his real name. I feel so blessed that my son his Grand-nephew as you named the repeater # 2 had a chance to experience your joy. We will miss you Uncle Ruddy aka Uncle Rupert! Don’t worry we will take care of Claude & Nathaniel as you would see fit! RIEP
