Russell Glen Bjork

June 24, 1944 ~ December 15, 2021

Russell Glen Bjork, 77, was born in St. Paul, MN on June 24, 1944, and passed peacefully in his sleep on December 15, 2021, of pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy, nee Lewis, three sons and their wives, Trenton (Cheryl), Justin (Kathi), and Ryan (Kristi), and six grandchildren: Nicole, Abbigail (Bert Dailey, fiancé), Jackson, Anna, Jonas, and Bo. He is preceded in death by his parents, Werner and Wilma Bjork and his only brother, Richard. Russ attended Johnson High School and the University of Minnesota where he studied Sociology. He worked several years as a special school counselor at Lino Lakes Youth Detention Center. He earned his commercial pilot’s license and was hired by Donaldson to fly their company plane out of Denver, CO. When their plane was sold, he returned to Minnesota where he went to work for Onan Generators (later acquired by Cummins), and in 1984 he was transferred to Atlanta to open the Southeastern office for large yacht marine generators. Russ continued his love for working with children and for 15+ years he volunteered at Cobb County Juvenile Court. Russ also loved golfing and fishing especially the annual Canadian fishing trip and Stabutic club “for business”. He continued the annual fishing trips after retiring in 2006. Russ and Dorothy were long time members of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection on Paper Mill Road and later transferred to Holy Trinity Lutheran on Sandy Plains Road. He will be cremated, and his ashes scattered on Lake Superior (another favorite fishing spot) together with his wife’s ashes when she passes. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at First Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, Russ’s church while growing up and where he married Dorothy in 1963. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Marietta, GA. https://htelcm.org/Give/Giving.html
