Sallye Butler Dodd made her earthly debut on December 25, 1929. Born to Leroy Butler and Ruby Taylor Butler, the eighth of nine children. She confessed Christ at a young age and entered into her eternal rest on September 29, 2022.
Sallye married C.S. Hamilton and to this union was born two children, Ronald Spencer and Charletta Gale. Her second marriage was to George Dodd. Sallye received her bachelor's degree from Albany State University. She retired from the Atlanta Public School System in 1991, where she taught for 38 years. Sallye found much joy in helping others. She flourished at Ben Hill United Methodist Church serving in the community food bank for many years; also, as the facilitator of the after-school program and serving in the Jewels and Partners Ministry.
Sallye's family and friends meant the world to her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby, father, Leroy, brothers: William, Rhett, Acey, Henry, and Jack, sisters: Irma, Evelyn, Inez, and son, Ronald Hamilton. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Charletta Gale Hamilton, granddaughters: Lauri Edwards Richards, Salena Mattia' Hamilton, and great-grandsons: Anthony Dingwall, Legend Kincaid, special grandchildren: Lawanna Richards, Patrick Stern and a host of other family and friends.
