Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Scott Alan Simms
Scott Alan Simms, 65, of Kennesaw passed away on January 4, 2022, at a local hospital. A memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Southern Cremations Funeral Home, Marietta, GA. Scott was born on September 12, 1956, in Evanston, Illinois, to James and June (Hagel) Simms. He graduated from Yankton High School, Yankton, South Dakota. He enlisted in the army, and after his discharge the family moved to Marietta, Georgia.
Scott was employed with Equitec as a property manager, the Omni Hotel, Publix, and currently with Visiting Angels. Many clients asked for Scott as he was well-liked, caring and loved his job. Scott was very interested in politics, and at one time volunteered for the Republican Party. He was an animal lover, and also loved sports, especially the Chicago White Sox, the Chicago Cubs and the Georgia Bulldogs.
He is survived by three sisters: Leslie (Gene) Johnson of Sioux City, Iowa, Gail Brown of Henderson, Nevada, and Deborah Simms of Decatur; three brothers: James Simms (Ann) of Harrison, Tennessee, Tracy (Racquel) of Woodstock, and Chris (Michelle) of Powder Springs; many nieces and nephews; and his special dog Trooper.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents James and June Simms, his brother -in- law, Ralph Brown, his nephew Christian Irons, and his niece Lorrie Simms.
Rest in Peace, Scott. We love you.

I was a nurse at visiting angels. He was the kindest caregiver!! I remember one sweet man he cared for that loved him so much! He made the people that he took care of feel like he was their friend! One time in particular, he clocked out because his shift was over, but then stayed to finish watching the ball game with him! Such a special man! So sorry for your loss!
Very sad.
My deepest sympathy to the entire Simms family. Scott and I had many memorable years together. Both Jonathan and I have fond memories of him. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. Elaine (Echols) & Jon Bandzul
