Sharon Dickson Wilson, daughter of Joseph Edwind and Martha Dickson and twin sister to Karen McKinney, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
Sharon and her sister Karen were born on December 10, 1942, in Muncie, Indiana, where the birth of twins was the talk of the town. Sharon remained in Muncie throughout her upbringing and attended Ball Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, later becoming a registered nurse. Soon after becoming an RN, she started her nursing career in Virginia.
Sharon was the mother of two sons, Keith Wilson, who passed away in 2015, and Craig Wilson. In 1974, Sharon and her sons relocated from Virginia to Oregon to be closer to family. She particularly enjoyed the natural beauty of the Northwest, including the Oregon coast, Mount Hood National Forest, and the Columbia Gorge. She participated in hiking with the Mazamas as well as cross-country skiing near Mount Hood.
During her long nursing career, Sharon held various positions, specializing in Enterostomal Therapy (ET) in the early 1980s, while working at Emmanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon. She subsequently worked for the Boeing Corporation in Troutdale, Oregon, serving in the plant medical dispensary. Sharon retired from nursing in 1997 due to a cancer diagnosis.
In 2020, Sharon moved to Georgia with her son Craig and daughter-in-law Jennifer and resided at Ignite at Palmetto Park. While living there, she formed new friendships and enjoyed recreational activities such as Mahjong, solving puzzles and hosting movie nights. She is survived by her sister, Karen; her son, Craig; grandchildren Nicholas, Laura, Sarah, Hannah, Samuel, and Anna; and six great-grandchildren.
While she endured many life challenges, (e.g. single parenting, long-term cancer diagnoses, and the death of her son, Keith) Sharon’s trust in the Lord never wavered. She loved the Lord and wanted to share Him with everyone she met. She wanted very much to be in heaven with Jesus. She is now with her Savior rejoicing among the saints that preceded her into eternal joy. Jesus said, “…I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me… “(John 14:6). Sharon has entered the heavenly realm by and through her abiding relationship with Christ.
A memorial service will be held at Ignite at Palmetto Park, 519 Perkins Rd, Palmetto, GA 30268, on September 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse or Coweta Pregnancy Services.

Rest in paradise Mrs. Sharon. It was a complete honor getting to know you and taking care of you. You are by far one of the sweetest people that I have come to know. You were my friend and I enjoyed every moment spent with you. We had so many conversations about family, you always wanted to make sure that I was okay. Most importantly we always talked about God and how you were ready to see Jesus. I’m glad that you have finally moved from this earthly body to see you savior. Heaven has definitely gained an angel. I love you❤️ your friend Toshia.
Sharon was the first friend I made after my husband died. I was looking for a smaller home and she directed me to a condominium. My sister and I got out of our car to look at it and Sharon and Gracie came walking up. I asked where she lived and she pointed right next door. After moving in she became a great neighbor and friend. I loved Sharon and know she is now in the care of our Heavenly Father. I will see you again someday my friend.
Dear family, I’m so sorry to hear about Sharon. But as you said she’s home with Jesus!! We got acquainted at GSCC through a Bible study growth group. Sharon was a gentle &caring person. We have a son with a disability and she often helped us out with caring for him in our home. We remember her big black chow and she’d board him at our Pet Spa. We truly loved Sharon always an encouragement to us!! Until we meet again❤️
I’ll remember Sharon as a good neighbor to my sister and brother-in-law, Claire and Mark Gibson. Though my trips to Portland were few, my visits across the street to chat with Sharon were memorable. Sharon loved the Lord and that shone through.
My last visit with her was in SoCal when we both happened to be in the Palm Springs area at the same time and were able to meet for coffee and a lovely chat.
Though saddened at first to learn of Sharon’s passing, those feelings were replaced by joy, knowing she is with Jesus totally healed, and I’ll see her again.
Sharon was a faithful friend to ourselves and others here at Eagle Estates East, especially those who shared a driveway with her. And she was a faithful sister in Christ to us. We missed her when she and Gracie moved to Georgia but were glad to stay in touch occasionally by phone. We look forward to seeing her again in her new home.

I was blessed to have such a wonderful mother in law in my life. Her love for the Lord was one of the special ways she impacted others. I have so many incredible memories that I will cherish always. I know her prayers have been answered and that she is at peace in heaven with our Father now. She will forever be in our hearts. Kellie Wilson
Celebrating special moments with family
I am a younger resident at Ignite Living at Palmetto Park and Sharon was one of the first people I met here. She was funny, warm, and intelligent. When it was summer and she finished taking Gracie for a walk, we rode the elevator up to the second floor and Gracie would always give me one lick on my leg. We guessed she was getting some salt off my sweat. We laughed about it and I will miss Sharon for as long as I live. Rest in peace sweet Sharon, love, Lori Lynde
I am just reading this but Ms Sharon was one of my most precious patients in Palmetto. Embodied resiliency, strength with a beautiful heart. I have missed her dearly. I am sure she is looking down from heaven with her beautiful smile 💜
